Motoworks / Can-Am's Dillon
Zimmerman Wraps-Up Pro-Am Championship
In the Pro-am Class, Can-Am Motoworks’
Dillon Zimmerman wrapped up the championship one
round early with his third place finish. Zimmerman
came back after a devastating wreck at Speedworld
this spring, that left him with internal injuries
and broken ribs, to retake the points lead and
claim the 2009 WORCS Pro-am Championship. “I
just went out there and tried to ride smart. I
knew I had to finish in the top five to take the
championship so my goal was to finish the race
somewhere in the top three,” said Zimmerman,
who may try his hand at the Pro class at the final
WORCS Round in Mesquite, NV.

Justin Jones grabbed the Pro-Am ATV Holeshot
& he would go on to finish in 5th Place |
Although Zimmerman won the championship, it was
Kawasaki mounted David Haagsma who would take
the Pro-am win. Haagsma started out in third place,
but laid down some blistering lap times to take
over the lead by lap four. Haagsma also had the
fastest lap time of his class in lap seven with
a time of 10:26.9. Garrin Fuller made his way
up from a top five start to take home second place.

Julie
Russell claimed the 2nd spot for the 7th
straight race behind Tammy Balser, but she
applied the pressure recording the fastest
laptime of the Women's A Class Race |
Tammy Balser continued to dominate the Women’s
A class by taking her seventh straight win, but
it was MCR’s Julie Russell who would lay down
the fastest lap time of their class, with a time
of 08:52.3 in her final lap, which would put her
in second place. Raustyn Hurst would claim the final
spot on the Women’s A podium with Samantha
Lopez in fourth and Donna Espensen would round out
the top five.
The final round of the 2009 WORCS series will
be an exciting one as there will be plenty of
intense racing where many championships will be
in the balance. The final round will be held on
October 16-18 in Mesquite, NV, with the season’s
end awards ceremony following Sunday’s races.
