Extreme Dirt Track Racing Season Opener Race Report
::Continued::
With the ability, but not the requirement, of a big-bore engine for extra ponies at the rear wheels, the Pro-Am Unlimited class was next up on the line. The sixteen racers were ready to test their might against one another.
Maul Tech ATV / Pippard Performance / Houser/ CCR’s Michael Houghton proved he is a force to be reckoned with this season in the unlimited class after a dominating performance after fifteen laps. Houghton came off the line in second place behind Garrett Keister but was quickly able to move his way around and into the first place spot.

#92 Michael Houghton quickly made the move into first place

This all came after front leader Josh Hibdon made a bobble up front and looped out as he went into a loose part of the track. From there, Houghton took advantage of the opportunity and kept on his toes and struck a good pace to go on and claim the win, one of the biggest of his EDT career.

“It was unbelievable how good my quad handled and ran tonight. The suspension was amazing and it was doing everything I wanted it to do. I got out front and from there the adrenaline took over and I just stayed on point and made no mistakes and just rode my own race, I’m really happy with the results and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season,” said Houghton.
H&H Extreme / RATH Racing / EMiG / Custom Axis’ Josh Hibdon secured a podium finish for himself after taking a second place in the Unlimited class, even after making a costly mistake while leading in the first few laps.

#24 Josh Hibdon finished second in the EDT Pro-Am Unlimited Class
|
Hibdon snagged the early lead after taking the Holeshot but overshot a jump section and got out into the marbles and lost control. He however was able to come back up and into a second place finish by the end of the fifteen-lap contest.
RATH / H&H Extreme ATV / DASA / Lonestar's / FLY’s Garrett Keister made his first ever EDT podium at round one as his was able to hold onto a third place finish after a hard fought battle with Houghton and Hibdon.

Garrett Keister finished 3rd at EDT Round 1 in the Pro-Am Unlimited Class
|
Keister also was feeling pressure from behind as SIC Powersport’s Jared Hulliung was coming on strong in fourth place. Keister stayed calm under this pressure however and went on to take the third place spot to start his Pro-Am Unlimited season off strongly.

Round one of the Extreme Dirt Track ATV Nationals is in the books and round two of the series unfortunately, was canceled for the Pro Class due to extremely heavy rains in the area. All of the track prep was done to try to fix the soaked track conditions but with no sun light, very little wind, and even heavier storms moving in soon, the decision was made to cancel that round for the Pro Class. An amateur report will be released about the weekend so be sure to check back right here on ATVRiders.com for that wrap up as well!
