Glen Helen - Round Two - Race
Report - Continued
In between the Motos, the pits were buzzing with
spectators seeking autographs and the opportunity
to speak to their favorite riders with many pros
setup signing autographs, but behind the scenes,
there were rumblings over Byrd’s line choice
in Moto One, which resulted in a protest and Byrd
being fined, but no points were docked from the
first Moto, and the corner was ribboned off for
the Moto two.

Wienen Engine Swap before the start of the
2nd Moto |
Chad Wienen on the other hand was dealing with
engine issues, and it was decided with no time to
spare that the engine needed swapped out. Mike Cafro
and Allen White noticed the commotion in Wienen’s
pit and jumped in to help with the engine swap as
the clock ticked away for the start of the second
Moto while the rest of his crew went to select his
gate position.
The Pros headed out for the parade lap, but there was
still no Chad Wienen. With the 30 Second Out, Wienen
finally appeared and rolled onto the concrete starting
pad just seconds before the gate dropped. Once Again,
Joe Byrd would launch out of the gate with his DASA
Engine and secure himself the second ATVriders.com Holeshot
Award followed closely by Keith Little and John Natalie
Jr with Kory Ellis flipping over in turn two, which
sent him to the rear of the pack.

Byrd once again grabs the ATVriders.com Holeshot
Award |
The early battle was once again between Byrd and Natalie
Jr as they bounced off each other a few times in the
first lap swapping the lead back and forth with Little,
Gust, and Wienen in chase. Yes, Wienen was on the move
once again despite barely making the Moto, and in less
than two laps, he passed, Gust, Little, Natalie Jr,
and Byrd like they were sitting still to take over the
lead.
By the fifth lap, Wienen extended his lead to nearly
five seconds on Byrd before the Cinderella story ended
with Wienen’s Honda coming to a stop with something
as simple as a broken coil wire, but regardless of the
outcome the privateer, Chad Wienen, proved he is going
to be a huge threat for the Factory Racers, and his
Podium at Mill Creek wasn’t a fluke.

minute, Chad Wienen was charging his way through
the pack and into the lead, and the next he was
