Champion

At
the Suzuki Dealer Meeting in Las Vegas,
Dustin Wimmer rode out on the King Quad
750 with EPS & signed autographs
for the dealers |
ATVriders.com:
There has been a lot of changes going on this
year with several riders switching teams.
Are you planning to stay with Suzuki for sure
next season?
Dustin Wimmer:
Well...ummm...I don’t know...(after
some razzing from the Suzuki crew) Ok, Ok,
I’m just kidding! Yes, it’s pretty
much a done deal that I’ll be staying
with Suzuki again next year.
ATVriders.com:
Has the economy had a big impact on the team?
Dustin Wimmer:
There’s been a little bit of cutting
back, but it hasn’t really had that
much affect for my program or me.
ATVriders.com:
It’s rumored that it will only be a
two-man team next year. How do you feel about
that?
Dustin Wimmer:
I think it’s going to be fine. Doug
and I did pretty well the first year we were
racing together and I think we will definitely
do well again this year.
ATVriders.com:
Will there be any changes to your program?
Dustin Wimmer:
I don’t think there’s going to
be any really big changes other than I’ll
be training a little harder.

In
2003, Dustin Wimmer made his Pro ATV
debut at Loretta Lynn's after wrapping
up the 250 Pro-Am Championship, and
for 2004, he made the switch to the
newly released Yamaha YFZ450 with East
Coast ATV. After a slow start to the
year, Wimmer came on strong at the half
way point and earned his 1st Podium
appearance at Red Bud with a 3rd Overall,
and he would make his return to the
podium at High Point & Daniel Boone,
which boosted him to 6th Overall in
his Pro Rooke Year |
ATVriders.com:
Will you be doing any major changes to the
quad for next year?
Dustin Wimmer:
We’re doing a little testing as always,
but not anything major that I know of right
now.
ATVriders.com:
Are you anxious for the ’09 season to
start?
Dustin Wimmer:Yes, I am! I’m really
looking forward to getting back out there
again.

In
2005, Dustin Wimmer switched to Honda,
but he really made an impression in
2006 when he battled with Suzuki's Doug
Gust for the WPSA Championship, which
came down to the final moto with Gust
taking the win and the championship
followed by Wimmer after an incredible
moto of racing, and by that fall, Suzuki
announced they signed a 2 year contract
with Dustin Wimmer, and the pair will
continue to race together for their
3rd straight year in 2009 under the
Suzuki tent |
ATVriders.com:
What are your plans for the off-season?
Dustin Wimmer:
I’m going to be holding a couple
of riding schools and pretty much just keep
training for next year. After the holidays
I’m sure I’ll be out in California
for a little while doing some testing and
riding also.

Dustin
Wimmer was nominated for Speed Athlete
of the Year, which went to Bubba Stewart
for his perfect season, so Dustin knows
what he needs to do for 2009 to earn
the award |
ATVriders.com:
You’ve already held a couple of riding
schools this year. How did those go?
Dustin Wimmer:They
went really well. The last class I did was
a youth rider class. Unfortunately, it rained
really hard the whole time, but I still had
quite a few people show up. They all did well
and seemed to have a good time even with all
the rain. The full size quad classes have
also gone well. I really want to start doing
more classes for both full size and mini quads.
ATVriders.com:
What do you hope to accomplish next season?
Dustin Wimmer:To
win another championship!
ATVriders.com:
Thanks for talking to us today Dustin and
congratulations on your win over in Spain!
Dustin Wimmer::Thank
you! It’s been a pleasure
