Worth, TX (3/3/2014)
- There was a new face in the Open Expert Class
that lined up at the TQRA Motocross Racing Season
opener on February 23rd. That racer, Alex Woskob,
would immediately have people talking as he
would grab the Moto one holeshot and the moto
win in his first ever ATV motocross race.
It
was not apparent at all that Alex Woskob just
hopped on an ATV for the first time just a
month prior. Impressively, Woskob would earn
fourh overall in his first ever ATV race!
even after snapping his chain in the second
moto, which kept him off the podium.
Alex
Woskob did go on to finish on the Pro-Am Podium
in the second spot with a 3-2 finish behind
Thomas Brown.
Woskob
grew up racing dirt bikes, but wanted to try
out ATV racing after former Pro ATV Motocross
Champion, John Natalie, gave him a call and
asked him if wanted to race an ATV.
We had a chance to interview Alex Woskob after his impressive showing at the TQRA opener.
ATVriders.com:
Alex, prior to racing quads this year, you
raced motorcycles?
Alex
Woskob:
Yeah I started racing dirtbikes when I was
nine years old, and when the economy dropped
and everything, I quit racing. I haven’t raced
a dirt bike for five years and one day about
a month ago John Natalie called me up. He
said he was starting a riding school, and
he thought I might have what it takes to jump
on a quad and maybe take over. I asked what
I needed to do and he said he was in Texas
right now training and I got two quads I could
loan you for the year and come see what you’re
made of. It’s been going really well, I have
my first race coming up for the first National
in the third week of March and I’m really
excited to see how it goes.

Alex Woskob will be racing on a John Natalie Experience Honda 450R in the Pro-Am Class at the ATV Motocross Nationals |
ATVriders.com: And for you, you’re just jumping on the quad and going straight for Pro-Am. You’ve got the speed from what John has told me?
Alex Woskob: I mean I’m getting faster and faster every day. I’m starting to dial in the quad for sure. But it’s very new for me and I think today is like the third week I’ve been riding a quad now but with John being as good of a trainer as he is and pushing me everyday and doing long motos I’m really starting to get my endurance up, I think it’s going really well.

ATVriders.com: How much fun, or how much of a difference is it when you’re racing quads versus motorcycles?
Alex Woskob: These quads, they are definitely a ton of fun, but they beat you up! You see a bumpy section on a dirt bike and you can just kind of glide right over them with all of the travel and having only two tires to deal with and the quads kind of toss you side-to-side. Me being a bigger guy, I think it definitely helps me out.
|
Although Alex Woskob is new to riding an ATV, he looks very comfortable on the track! |
ATVriders.com: You’re going to be down here training with Natalie up until the first round?
Alex Woskob: That’s correct. I’m going to be down here training with John all season long and we only live about ten minutes from each other back home in Warrior’s Mark, PA. It’s really beneficial and will allow us to keep training together.

Alex Woskob is the wild card name to look for in the 2014 ATV motocross racing season |
