PERFORMANCE

A hearty, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled Rotax four-stroke engine offers unmatched power and performance for its class, while remaining both reliable and efficient. Along with supplying an industry-leading power-to-weight ratio, the 38-hp Rotax offers electronic fuel injection to remain as efficient for work and play. Regardless of temperature or altitude, EFI ensures optimal performance from the engine at all times. Progressive throttle control means the power remains manageable in slow-speed circumstances or during quicker riding situations.

CVT transmission
The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) means you’re always in the correct gear. For ease of use, you can count on the integrated engine-braking feature to help reduced your speed when going downhill.

Dual-room, no-tools air box
Like all models with the SST G2 design, the Outlander L 450 has a dual-room, no-tools air box that is elevated and centralized for unmatched efficiency. Its dual-room setup works diligently to capture and trap dirty air and then effectively transfer clean air to the engine for optimal performance.

HANDLING

Surrounding Spar Technology (SST) G2 FrameĀ
The Outlander L models are based upon the SST G2 frame with Geometric Contact Control that was introduced in the awardwinning Outlander 1000. The welded-steel frame is engineered with enhance durability, structural integrity yet designed to offer precision handling. The more efficient SST design offers increased strength compared to a traditional tubular steel chassis, a lower center of gravity, better handling and requires far less components, materials and welds.

Double A-arm front suspension
The front suspension system includes dive-control geometry for better cornering and vehicle-braking dynamics. The 9-in suspension travel increases trail comfort and capabilities in rough terrain and five-way preload adjustable shocks can help riders add more or less spring resistance for riding conditions and various chores.

Trailing Torsional Independent (TTI) rear suspension
The industry’s only independent rear suspension designed to allow the rear wheels to pivot up and down in a vertical line rather than a more cumbersome butterfly motion. The rear suspension is also strategically designed to offer point-and-shoot handling, optimal traction and efficient transferring of power to the ground. Offering a five-way preload adjustable shocks and 8.8 inches of suspension travel, the Outlander L can soak up rough terrain while keeping the rider comfortable and focused on the trail.

Visco-Lok auto-locking front differential
The Can-Am Visco-Lok system is one of the most consumer friendly designs on the market, as the progressively and automatically locking front differential system requires no additional buttons to push or levers to hold. Once 4x4 is selected, the system intelligently transfers power from the slipping front wheel to the opposing wheel with traction and is not hampered by a speed or rev limiters.

214mm disc brakes
Large 214 mm disc brakes, front and rear, have hydraulic twin-piston calipers for superior stopping power.

12-inch steel wheels / 25-inch (66cm) tires
Wrapped in 25-inch Carlisle Trail Wolf Tires, the 12-inch steel wheels on the Outlander L provide rugged performance in tough terrain and changing conditions. A bigger tire design helps you easily overcome obstacles as you ride.

10.5-inch ground clearance
A whopping 10.5-inches of ground clearance gives the Outlander L exceptional capabilities in challenging terrain.

RIDER FOCUSED DESIGN

5-year extended warranty
Our BRP Extended Service Terms (B.E.S.T.) warranty program gives you peace of mind because your vehicle is backed by an industry-leading 5-year extended warranty. The program includes dealerships throughout North America, BRP-certified technicians, unlimited mileage and is transferrable with ownership.

Improved sight lines
Due to its slightly shorter stance and steel racks, the Outlander L 500 offers the rider improved sight lines while driving without a front loaded rack.

Dynamic Passenger Comfort (DPC)
The Can-Am Outlander L MAX ATVs have passenger-influenced ergonomics to produce the most comfortable and consumer-friendly tworider vehicle to date. DPC ergonomics means comfortable seating, cushioned ride and placing the passenger in an optimal riding position. The Outlander L MAX models receive the redesign passenger seat. The new lighter design allows for more gradual bending of the backrest and is easier to install / remove (even when the rear rack is loaded). It also includes a new lock with a latch to reduce vibration. The tall backrest is very supportive and also pivots to help reduce kick back to passenger during acceleration and climbs. Can-Am engineers also added regressive flex to the top and sides to enhance comfort levels. The seat is also angled and formed to provide better “groove,” more overall support and minimize passenger movement in off-road conditions.

Passenger handholds
The angled rear passenger handle position allows for flex while riding and also reduces the overall impact to the passenger’s hands. The handles also allow for numerous hand positions to enhance the passenger’s riding experience and comfort level. For one-up use, the rear seat has integrated handles that don’t limit rear rack space or prohibit single-rider comfort.

Passenger footrest
All MAX models with the G2 SST frame have foot peg angles and depth that cater to the rear passenger. The footrests also have a third row of foot grips to improve lateral grip.

Convertible Rack System (CRS)
The Can-Am Outlander L MAX ATV comes with a Convertible Rack System (CRS) for transforming the ATV into a single-rider machine. The transition literally takes just seconds and eliminates the touring look and feel when riding alone. The fact that the passenger handholds are attached to the seat means they don’t inhibit rider movement or take up rear rack space. An optional storage box is available.
