US Highland Race Ready ATV

Pre-Production US Highland "Custom Built" 450 ATV Ride Review

Glen Helen, CA (11/1/2010) - US Highland is a new manufacturer with big plans for the future of ATV racing. The American made manufacturer is in the pre production stages of testing and developing a full line of race ready motorcycles and ATV’s. At a recent press ride day at Glen Helen raceway we managed to snap a few photos of their prototype ATV and get the inside scoop on what they’re all about and their plans for the future. One thing is for sure; they’re serious about racing.

US Highland has some big plans for the coming years in both the 2-wheel & 4-wheel sectors by creating a "race ready" machine for both worlds of racing!

The U.S. manufacturer recently completed construction of a 33,000 square foot building complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The fourteen acre facility houses their headquarters, R & D and production facilities as well as a test track. US Highland is jumping headlong into the high performance market but with a unique twist. They’re business model is unlike any other manufacturer that has sought to tap into the “race ready” market.

They emphasize the fact that each motorcycle or ATV is custom built to suit each customer. Dealers will have demo bikes on hand but each unit is custom built at the company’s head quarters and tuned to the customer’s exact specifications. Tailor made if you will. No two units will be exactly the same as the customer has countless options for setting up suspension, engine configuration and a few other goodies.

The company offers a full line of on and offroad motorcycles ranging in displacement from 350 to 950cc. The goal with the 950 Desert Crosser model is to provide an out of the box motorcycle that can tame the Baja 1000 without making any other modifications. A seemingly lofty goal, but with a powerful 950cc power plant they might just have the recipe for victory.

We were please to discover the company also has plans to enter the ATV market by providing three race ready ATV’s. The demo bike on hand was a hybrid of sorts but that’s exactly what the company plans to offer. Because their emphasis is on race ready, each ATV arrives from the factory with many of the same aftermarket components used by today’s top racers.
