Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS & 525 S ATV Test Ride Review

2009 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS, 525 S & 450MXR ATV Review
::Continued::

2009 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS  & 525S ATV
2009 Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS now has Fox Podium shocks on all 4 corners & the rear wheels are now 10" instead of 9" for improved wheel clearance
The Outlaw 450MXR wasn't the only outlaw to get updated suspension for 2009. The 525IRS will come standard with Fox Podium X shocks on all 4 corners. The addition of the Fox shocks to the rear of the 525IRS will not only improve an already plush ride but allow for more tuning since all the Fox Podium X shocks can be revalved to tailor them specific for the consumer.

The entire 2009 Outlaw line-up also received updated valve and spring settings in accordance to riders and racer feedback. The 525S and 525IRS foot pegs were relocated 1'' forward for a more balanced feel on these big bore ATVs. Another change made to the 525IRS based on racer and consumer feedback was the use of 10'' rear rims in place of the previous 9" rear rims. The use of 10" rims provides more clearance between the rear knuckle and the rims, decreasing the chance of rocks and other derbies becoming lodged in this tight space.

I have had the opportunity over the last year to spend a considerable amount of time on the ‘08 Outlaw models and I am very impressed with the changes Polaris has made for 2009. For starters, the lowered stance on the 450MXR inspires confidence in high speed corners. The updated Fox suspension on the Outlaw 525 IRS was a noticeable improvement in performance over last years Ryde FX rear suspension. I was very impressed with the IRS model while trail riding with not only the ride quality of the rear suspension but the lack of body roll these new shocks provided over last years setup.

This will be one of the best years to date to be an ATV enthusiast. We have more models to choose from than ever. Gone are the dark days of the 1990’s when you would visit your local powersports store to find the same limited model line-up on the show floor that have been offered for years with updates colors, as their only real changes. Consumers now demand more from the manufactures to earn their business. Polaris understands this and has made a real effort to listen to and act upon consumer feedback. This kind of consumer involvement in production changes is not the industry norm and is gaining Polaris respect from the ones that should matter most to a manufacture “YOU” the consumer.

Polaris continues to use this connection with consumer to engineer new and innovative products in all their market segments from the Outlaws and Sportsman to their hard working and play capable Ranger lineup to the maximum fun factor RAZR line. So weather you are looking to add another power sports product to your garage or you are a first time buyer shopping for something that fits your needs the best take a good hard look at the Polaris product you won’t be disappointed.
