Great Falls, MT - Polaris recently invited ATVriders.com out to beautiful Great Falls, Montana for their 2013 ATV & SxS / UTV Model intro which featured the Polaris RZR 570 Trail Special Edition, Polaris Scrambler 850 XP ATV, and the all-new Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV.

Each machine had something new to bring to the table, but no other brought so many new features than the 2013 Polaris RAGNER XP 900 SxS. We had to chance to test drive the all-new 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS at Bull Run Guest Ranch to thoroughly test the machine.

The Bull Run Guest Ranch features over 13,000 acres of beautiful rolling hills, open fields, rocky trails, and several creek crossings. Although Mother Nature was not quite on our side for this event, as strong winds and rain plagued us throughout the day, we were eager to get behind the wheel of the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV and brave the wet conditions in this new machine.

We had a blast driving the all-new 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV at the Bull Run Guest Ranch in Montana. Bull Run featured a great mix of hills, rocks, and creek crossings that proved to be perfect testing grounds for the RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV

Despite its similar looks to most of the RANGER SxS / UTV family, the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 is all-new from the ground up. Most notably, the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 uses a similar engine to the very popular sport-oriented Polaris RZR XP 900.

Although the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV shares similar looks as the 2012 Polaris RANGER 800 SxS / UTV, the RANGER XP 900 has all-new features like integrated molded cab frame for easy cab & accessory installation, increased ground clearance, larger displacement engine, and much more that make it a great addition to the already impressive Polaris RANGER lineup

The Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV also features many new innovative forward thinking design components including moving the engine towards the rear, integrated lock and ride molded cab frame, longer chassis and wheel base, and increased ground clearance and improved shocks, and more. Polaris engineers spent three years alone designing, testing, and producing the all-new 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS and its ride speaks for itself.

The 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 has a tow rating of 2,000 lbs. Polaris demonstrated the true power and torque of the RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV's ProStar 875cc engine by towing a dump truck through a field in front of us at Bull Run Guest Ranch

With the success of the sport-minded Polaris RZR XP 900 SxS, Polaris chose to use a similar ProStar engine, but tuned the 875cc engine to be more efficient for use around the farm or work site. Now don’t get the idea that the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 is just a work horse, the electronic fuel injected, 4-stroke twin cylinder, DOHC engine provides a hard hitting 60 horsepower throughout the RPM range. The 2013 Polaris RANGER provides class leading torque and pulling power for both work and play.

The various terrain at Bull Run Guest Ranch provided a great area to put the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 through its paces. With a light push of the gas pedal, we were immediately surprised how much power the RANGER XP 900 has and how quite the cab was compared to other models.

The 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV's power is almost immediate. We were able to get up to an impressive 50 mph on the muddy trails at Bull Run Guest Ranch & we feel that in dry conditions that the RANGER XP 900 SxS is well capable of greater speeds

The Polaris RANGER XP 900's ProStar engine had plenty of power to conquer any trail we pointed it down. The power was almost immediate and there was not much lag getting up to speed. Despite the slick muddy trails, we were able to get the Polaris XP 900 SxS / UTV up to 50 miles an hour. We felt that the RANGER XP 900 was capable to get up to greater speeds in better driving conditions.

By placing the engine towards the rear of the machine, Polaris was able to quite the cab noise & make it easier for maintenance. A stiffer chassis was also used to improve handling & durability

It was surprising how quite the drive was in the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS / UTV. Polaris was able to quite the noise in the cab with a combination of mounting the engine and transmission together, and by isolating it behind the cab under the bed. By moving the engine behind the cab, it also makes working on the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 easy to access. With a quick tilt of the bed, one can access the engine with plenty of room to move around. We really liked how easy the engine and other components were to access, thus making it easier for the consumer or mechanics to work on the machine.

The chassis was completely redesigned on the 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 SxS to be able to move the engine towards the rear of the machine.  The chassis is twice as rigid than previous Polaris RANGER SxS Models.
