When the green flag dropped, I got off the
line quickly, but was struck by Walker Evan’s
RJ Anderson in the first turn and somewhere
in the course of our contact, his car peeled
back the bead on my DWT rim and let all the
air out of my right front tire, which wasn’t
the type of start that I was expecting for the
race. With the completion of RZR XP 900 being
so down to the wire, I had not even thought
of having spare tires and wheels, so I pushed
on for two laps in the 4th position while fighting
to steer with the flat tire!

While
battling in the first turn after the start,

On the third lap, I had lost a few positions,
but I was pleasantly surprised to see some friends
in the pits waving me in with a spare tire they
were willing to change out for me. I pulled
in and my impromptu pit crew changed the wheel
in 14 seconds and I headed back out in about
15th place. I was able to pass eight cars on
the very next lap and was sure I would get myself
back up to a respectable finish when I saw the
white flag come out. I physically crossed the
finish line in 8th place but was unsure how
the split starts and time adjustments would
affect my final placing. And I guess I will
never know…

After
making a quick pit stop to change the
wheel & tire out, Baron passed many
SxS / UTV Racers on the final lap. Baron was 8th to
cross the finish line with out any time
adjustments, however, there was a transponder
system failure that made scoring the SxS
race nealry impossible. |

Unfortunately, the number of UTVs that showed
up for the race was just too much for the transponders
and scoring system that WORCS has in place and
it suffered an irrecoverable failure in the race
so official results were completely lost. The
decision was made by WORCS officials to award
everyone outside of the top 5 spots points for
6th place, which obviously was favorable for me
at this point. I am hoping that this mishap makes
no difference at the end of the season and I can
overcome the issues that I have experienced so
far with many wins in the TurnKey UTV backed Polaris
XP 900 SxS.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the
handling of the TurnKey UTV built Polaris RZR
XP 900, and they have done a great job with
the fit and finish of the RZR XP 900 as well.
The car feels lighter than I expected with all
the added metal components, and I was impressed
with the shear strength of the car’s frame.
I was also impressed how well the Elka Suspension
performed in the 3ft deep sand whoops out on
the course, and the Maxxis tires worked awesome
as always.

Even
with the added weight of the aftermarket
roll cage, bumper, doors, nerfbars, &
metal roof, the TurnKey Polaris RZR XP
900 SxS felt light & handled great.

The Sparks Racing exhaust improved the performance
over stock, but I still need more power to run
up front this year with the increased competition,
so I am looking to have Sparks Racing make some
engine modifications between now and the next
round at Lake Havasu, AZ on March 17th. If all
goes as planned, I should be back on the podium
with the Turn Key UTV prepped Polaris RZR XP
900!
