I was making time on everyone in front of me
and picking them off pretty quick in the Polaris
RZR 4, and I was able to make most my passes
on the down-hills and in the turns. The Polaris
RZR-4’s extra long wheel base and high
performance suspension allowed me to stay on
the gas over the down hill braking bumps, and
the RZR-4 steering was very predictable and
accurate, so I could make clean passes on competition.
In the turns, the RZR-4 also steered amazingly
wheel with the stock Maxxis tires, and I was
able to power slide through the turns and make
up time on the competition.

The
2011 Polaris RZR-4 with its 103.0 inch
wheel base provides for a very stable
ride through the whoops & the Fox
Shox suspension provides 12" of wheel
travel front & rear for a smooth rid |
With just two laps to go, I made the pass on
a Can-Am Commander, to take over the second
spot, and the new Polaris RZR XP 900 was out
front leading the pack, and I caught up to them
on the downhill, but the XP 900 would leave
me on the uphill sections, so I doubted my chances
of making a pass for the lead.
While, I was chasing after the RZR XP 900,
it suddenly veered off the course and down a
hill without any warning, and just that quick,
I was now leading the race in a bone stock Polaris
RZR 4. I maintained the lead to the checkered
flag for the win, and everyone, including myself,
was in complete disbelief that a STOCK RZR-4
just beat a stacked field of 40 other entries
and took home the $4,000 win purse.
It was a great experience for my first UTV
race, and I hope to be back behind the wheel
again in the future UTV race because I had a
blast. I have spent the past several months
testing the Polaris RZR4 for ATVriders.com,
and I have been really impressed with the RZR-4,
but having the opportunity to race it, put the
icing on the cake for me. The Polaris RZR-4
is truly an amazing UTV with its ability to
carry four passengers and still provide an exhilarating
ride.
Check back for a full test ride review on the
Polaris RZR 4 in the coming weeks and next on
our test list is the all-new Polaris RZR XP
900.
