Like many of the trails at the Hatfield McCoy trail system, the Pocahontas trail system ranges in difficulty from easy to extremely difficult. All of the trails at the Hatfield McCoy Trail system are very well marked and maps are provided for every trail. We would mainly stay on the easy to more difficult trails that are marked with green and blue markers.
The Hatfield McCoy trail system is right in the heart of the Application Mountain range, which is the largest mountain range in the eastern United States. As you may have guessed, there are many elevation changes making the trails very interesting. West Virginia is also known for being the coal mining state.
