We soon hit the Powell Lake Trail head, which was about 30 miles from Ruby’s Inn and took about an hour and a half to get there. With an approximately ¾ a mile hike we reached Powell Point which was named in honor of Civil War veteran and one-armed explorer John Wesley Powell. The awe-inspiring vista offers a 180-degree view of which you can look out for hundreds of miles. At over 10,000 feet in elevation you can also see the many colorful rock formations and Lake Powell, which was also named after the 18th century explorer.

After finishing up lunch at Powell Point, we got back on the trail and began our decent down the Barney Loop Trail for around 22 miles then we turned back into Powell Lake Trail. This particular section was one of the most challenging, as the trails were really tight. Although the Arctic Cat Sport measures ten inches over the 50-inch Wildcat Trail, we were still able to navigate through the tight technical trails.

There
were several tight trails we had no problem

The only thing we wish we had was power steering this go around as we began to feel the fatigue set in. As with almost all of the side-by-sides today, we would advise you to spend the extra money for the electronic power steering if you are going to be driving for a long length of time.

We
highly recommend spending the extra money
on the EPS if you are going to riding
for long distances, which will save you
from getting tired and wore out |
The five miles of tight technical down hill trails soon opened up and then we connected onto trails #2 and #1, which allowed us to get back up to speed on the 20+ miles of logging trails until we reached Sweet Water ranch. We took the road back to Ruby’s Inn for 18 miles and then called it a day – a very enjoyable one at that!

We were pretty impressed with the 2015 Arctic Cat Wildcat Sport and it is one of our favorite machines out of the Arctic Cat Wildcat model lineup. The Wildcat Sport is a nice medium between the Trail and the full size Wildcat, which makes it a very versatile SxS. The wider stance gives it better handling while not being to wide for the trails, and the 700cc engine provides enough power for just about any trail you point it down. We see the Arctic Cat Wildcat Sport being one of the most popular Arctic Cat models as it works well for both tight woods and high speed open riding areas like the ride we experienced in Utah.
