Taylorville, IL (5/13/2007) - Chad
Wienen led a Suzuki sweep of the SuperQuad Pro 450 podium
and Scott Kilby dominated the QuadTerrain Pro Stock
race during Sunday's Jack Link's ATV Championship WPSA
PowerSports ATV Tour race at South Fork Dirt Riders.
Michael Kneebusch won the Super Sport Side by Side event.
The race, which featured Motocross, QuadTerrain, and
Super Sport Side-by-Side events, will be telecast on
ESPN2 on Saturday, June 23 at noon EDT.
Wienen (No. 44 Team Rockstar, MSR, Pro Taper, Yoshimura/Suzuki)
came out of a three-quad battle with teammates Dustin
Wimmer (No. 191 MSR, Pro Taper, Yoshimura/Suzuki)
and Doug Gust (No. 55 Team Rock Star, MSR, Pro Taper,
Yoshimura/Suzuki) to net the Pro 450 victory.
|
Suzuki's
Doug Gust edged out Dustin Wimmer for the Holeshot
while chaos broke out behind them with Cale
Downen colliding with Jason Dunkelberger and
sending the pair tumbling with Chad Wienen barely
avoiding the pileup. Also, right off the start,
Kawasaki’s Josh Upperman and Josh Creamer
both went tumbling, which left Creamer sidelined
for the remainder of the race with bumps and
bruises. |
Gust took the holeshot, earning the $1,000 Quad Magazine
Holeshot Award, but was overhauled by Wimmer on lap
three of the 12-lap final. Wienen seemingly came out
of nowhere, taking second on lap six and grabbed the
lead for good the following lap. Wimmer held on for
second, followed by Gust. Joe Haavisto (No. 75 Lost
Creek/Suzuki) won the $1,000 Privateer Award, given
the the highest-finishing privateer rider, and sponsored
by South Fork Dirt Riders owner Leroy Harris.

#44
Chad Wienen was on a mission as he scrubbed
his way past #55 Doug Gust, and then he made
his move on #191 Dustin Wimmer to take over
the lead. With clean air ahead, he stripped
off his goggles and charged to the finish line
for his first career Pro Win in only his second
race on the Suzuki LTR450 |
"The mid part of the race was just incredible,"
said Wienen. "It was an exciting race, made more
exciting by getting all three Suzukis on the podium.
"The opportunities are endless with Suzuki,"
added Wienen. "I'm definitely looking forward
to the future."

Warnert
Racing's Scott Kilby lead the charge through
the Whoops as he grabbed the Holeshot in the
Quad Terrain Challenge |
Kilby showcased his broad QuadTerrain experience,
taking the $1,000 Holeshot Technologies Rock'n'Roll
Award, and leading all eight laps of the QuadTerrain
final. The rider of the No. 207 Warnert Racing/Can-Am,
beat out Adam Vaughn (No. 83 Can-Am) and Rory Beckman
