weekend with a win. Hancock took the lead from

Nic Granlund (3rd), Matt Hancock (1st),
Beau Baron (2nd) |
“I’ve always had trouble at Glen Helen,” said
Hancock, who moved up to second in points with
the victory. “I’ve lost a few championships here
and wrecked a couple of times on the quad. I got
the holeshot here a couple of months ago, led
most of the race and lost it in the last two laps.
This race I was ready. I got the holeshot and
I just went for it. Beau was behind me, pushing
me to go faster. That helped me a lot, keeping
those guys behind me and driving like I knew I
could. It was great to get my first win here.
I’ve been close so many times.”

Hancock secured the Pro Stock SXS Win, which
has him 2nd in the points championship |
Baron extended his points lead with his fifth
podium of the season and second podium in a row
at Glen Helen. His third-place finish here in
June actually handed him the points lead.

Beau
Baron finished in the second spot to maintain
his WORCS Pro Stock SXS points lead |
“The biggest thing today was trying to keep my
points in line,” said Baron. “I’m going to play
the last round cool and win a championship. I
had a good finish and I added a lot to my points
lead. I have a decent lead going into the last
round. I just need to play it smart and make sure
my car is ready to race the whole race.”
Granlund actually missed the green flag at the
start due to visibility issues caused by seating
position in his car. Despite the slow start, he
dodged lapped cars and overcame a broken axle
during the last two laps to score the final spot
on the podium.

“Everyone took off, so I slammed my car in gear
and got my goggles on,” said Granlund. “By the
time I got to the first corner I had caught up
to the lead pack. I made a few passes in the first
two turns. I could see the leaders, and I kept
picking off people. Once the front guys got into
the lappers, I caught up with Beau and Matt. I
got around Beau, but then I broke a rear axle.
My car was a handful, but the lappers helped me
keep in touch with the front guys.”
Anderson scored yet another fourth-place finish
here, continuing her strong drive this season.
Anderson had a mechanical issue early in the race
and was nursing an injured shoulder all weekend.

Shelby
Anderson finished in the 4th spot ahead
of Sierra Romo |
“I heard a clanking noise, so I backed off a
little bit,” said Anderson. “So I held my pace,
tried to be smooth and held on for points. Something
happened to Bulloch and then I caught up to Nic
at the end. If I had have had one more lap, I
know I could have passed him. I’m really stoked
with fourth. I’ve had a really bad shoulder all
week and I had so much help because I’m not supposed
to lift. The Quintero’s, the Romo’s, the Wemple’s,
and the Johnson’s helped me all out.”
In the Women’s SXS race, Giuliana Flowers scored
her second consecutive victory. With her second-place
finish, Jennifer Broughton clinched the championship.
Emily Green was third in the race.

Flowers secured her second straight Women's
SXS Win |
“It was a crazy race and I had a lot of fun out
there,” said Flowers. “I’m just inching forward.
We ended up on the back table tops. I was jumping
them and clearing them. On the third one, she
landed right in the middle and I jumped past her.
In the next turn, I had the inside line and took
the lead.”
In SXS 1000 Stock, Gareth Dihel clinched the
championship with sixth victory this season. Dihel
avoided a carnage-filled start to come away with
the win.

& Championship |
“There was a battle at the beginning and some
people were being really reckless,” said Dihel.
“So I backed out of that because it wasn’t worth
losing a championship. So I just tried to be patient
and them take care of themselves. The next thing
you know they took themselves out and I was up
to first.”
The Rocky Mountain ATV MC WORCS Series presented
by Maxxis and Dirt Wheels Series finishes out
the 2017 season at Adelanto Stadium in Adelanto,
CA. That race is scheduled for October 6-8.
