Beau Baron started on third row and laid back
early before turning up the wick. While many in
the field where throwing their cars into the corners,
Baron took a more calculated approach and scored
his first podium of the season in his Polaris.
He now sits fifth in points.

CST's
Beau Baron charged his way to the front
of the pack to a 2nd place finish |
“I tried to drive really smooth,” said Baron.
“A lot of guys were just throwing their cars sideways
into the turns. I tried driving it like a go-kart
and get as much traction as I could in the turns.
I just started reeling in people. Things didn’t
turn out like I wanted to early in the season,
but I’m coming back. If I have a little bit of
luck and some other people don’t, I’ll be there
for the championship. There is no reason we can’t
fight to the finish.”
Nic Granlund, who was running just his second
Pro race this season, started well back in the
field. He avoided the carnage in his Yamaha to
finish third and recorded his second podium in
as many starts.

Motorsports' Nic Granlund scored a spot
on the podium in the Pro SXS Class, which
is his 2nd straight podium finish in the
class |
“The first two laps were like bumper cars,” explained
Granlund. “Everyone was hitting each other, spinning
out, hitting me, people going over tires, cars
flying, parts flying; it was mayhem out there.
I just kept it clean and used a lot of inside
lines. I was going up against turbo cars and built
motors out there and I finished third.”
David Haagsma had difficulties with the track’s
pavement sections. After practice, officials watered
the track and the asphalt went from tacky in practice
to slick in the race. He ran a smart race, finished
fourth and now owns a 28-point lead in the title
chase.

Maxxis'
David Haagsma overcame issues to salvage
a 4th place finish, which now has him holding
a 28 point lead in the title chase |
“I couldn’t turn on the pavement and actually
spun out a couple of times,” said Haagsma. “I
knew I didn’t have the setup, so I just tried
to play it smart. All of those guys were running
really well and I couldn’t run that pace comfortably
without making a mistake. Overall it was a great
race because I have a good lead in the championship.
I just wanted to make sure I came out with a good
finish.”
