Nelson & Nelson’s Mitch Guthrie, Jr. grabbed
the holeshot and battled briefly with Ryan Piplic
but could not hold off the attack and fell to
second place. “I was in second and from there
it was crazy. I battled with Piplic and Anderson;

In the midst of battle, Guthrie, Jr. fell back
a couple of spots and was running in fourth but
in the final lap he made the pass on Mickey Thomas
and crossed the finish line in third place. “I
caught up to Mickey and made a push and got around
him in the last lap. It was a tough race and a
rough track so I was really glad to finish on
the podium,” said Guthrie, Jr.

Mystic Lubricant’s Mickey Thomas was right in
the mix with the top five racers and battling
it out and ended his day with a fourth place finish.
“It was a fun race and a bunch of us were running
back and forth. I’m disappointed that I didn’t
get the win, but it was still lot of fun. This
was a true desert style race and wasn’t a short
course and that was awesome,” said Thomas.
