6 - On The Edge - Pro ATV Race Report::Continued::

Wolf was followed closely by David Haagsma off the
start and Wolf even fell back briefly after Haagsma
made a pass in the motocross section of the track.
Wolf fired back and took back the lead once they
made their way out to the off-road section. As the
pair came to a water crossing, Haagsma slowed down
a bit, but Wolf just blasted right through and took
back the lead. From there, Wolf pulled away and
recorded the fastest lap time of the race in lap
three with a time of 07:39.082. Wolf’s blistering
speed allowed him to increase his lead with each
lap and take the Pro win by almost three minutes.

Spark Racing's #422 David Haagma quickly
took over the lead on the MX course followed
by #341 Brian Wolf, #549 Beau Baron &
#8 Robbie Mitchell | “I’ve always wanted to come out and
see what the WORCS series was all about. This
track was more like a GNCC style track so I felt
right at home. I wasn’t really ready for
the heat, but I still felt good out there and
it was pretty cool to come out here and get a
win. I really want to thank everyone out here
for cheering us on and everyone who helped us
come out here and race today; it was a lot of
                                fun,” said Wolf.

                                      / JG Offroad / Honda's #341 Brian Wolf was
right at home in the rocks, roots, and water
as he cruised to an impressive win in his
                                      WORCS racing debut |

                                Maxxis/H&M Motorsports’ Beau Baron is
known for his exceptional abilities in tight, technical
courses and those skills came through for Baron
at this round. “I had a decent start, but
I saw I had David Haagsma, Robbie Mitchell and Brian
Wolf in front of me, so I knew I had my work cut
out for me. I tried to catch up, but it seemed like
every water crossing I came to, and there were a
lot of them, my quad started bogging out and no
matter how I tried to get through the water, it
seemed like there was just no good way to do it,”
                              said Baron.

Maxxis' #549 Beau Baron charged his way
into the 2nd spot by making a late race
pass on #8 Robbie Mitchell | Baron stayed on the gas and despite getting stuck
a couple of times, he managed to close in on Robbie
Mitchell who was holding down second. “I
started reeling him in and then he got stuck and
it was just long enough for me to get by. I pulled
a little gap on him before the next lap, but then
I got stuck. I jumped off my quad and started
pulling with everything I had to get out before
he caught back up and I got loose and jumped back
on and pulled out right in front of Robbie,”
explained Baron. From there, Baron was able to pull away and take
second at the checkered flag. “It was basically
survival mode out there and I have to thank Maxxis
Tires, H&M Motorsports and everyone for helping
me get through this race,” said Baron who
                                now has a comfortable points lead with 137 points;
a 13 point spread over Josh Frederick in second
place. Robbie Mitchell ran a great race and his solid
performance enabled him to take his first podium
finish of the season. Mitchell got a good start,
inside the top five, and moved into second place
by the second lap. Mitchell rode smart and held
down the number two spot for most of the race.
In the final few laps, however, Beau Baron began
to close in. Mitchell was doing well at keeping
a solid gap between them, but one of the many
water crossings got the best of him and he got
                                stuck.

#8 Robbie Mitchell appeared was right at
home in the water and rocks as secured a
spot on the Podium in his homestate | “I got stuck and it was just long enough
for Beau to close in and get around me. I wasn’t
too far behind him and the very next lap, he ended
up getting stuck. I thought I was going to get
him, but he got out right in front of me,”
said Mitchell. The #8 racer stayed close and finish with a solid
third place, just over ten seconds behind Baron.
“It was a pretty brutal race, but it was
awesome because I love the more technical tracks.
The water worked in my favor for most of the race,
but I made it on the box and I am really stoked
about being up there, especially since this is
                                my home state,” said Mitchell.
