MCR
/ Maxxis' Julie Russell # 1W clenched the
Women's ATV Class championship at Racetown
395 |
Women’s A had three women on the line.
The flag dropped and they were off. Julie Russell
#1W grabbed the hole shot and the early lead.
She would hold the lead for the entire race, with
Donna Espensen in second place and Lynn Prosser
in third. They left the start line first, second
and third and maintained their positions finishing
in the same order. Julie Russell locked up the
championship after completing this race. “My
quad worked really well in the offroad. I would
like to thank everyone who has been supporting
me this year!” Russell commented after her
race.
Before you knew it on Saturday, it was time for
Open A. The ten racers were staged and ready to
leave the line. The hole shot would go to Cody
Mitchell . Cody Mitchell would take the lead early
and stay out front. He would wind up leading every
lap taking the checkered flag first with first
time A racer Levi Shirley behind him in second
and John Rikerd in third. The series points for
Open A are close with Cody Mitchell in first with
152 points, Daniel Grodski in second with 140
points and John Rikerd with 125 points in third.

Both Pro
& Pro Am riders like Keith Johnson
# 1P sported pink number plates in honor
of Breast Cancer Awareness Month of October
|
Sunday morning the weather was chilly, making
the riders think they were going to have a somewhat
decent forecast for the hour and a half main event.
This was quickly dispelled when the sun was ablaze
and the temperatures rose at a steady pace. The
temperature was in the mid to high eighties when
the race was staging. A sizable number of the
Pro AM riders had their number plate backgrounds
pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness being
the month of October.
The racers were staged, the motors were revved
and the gates dropped. All of the quads were racing
toward the first turn. It looked like the hole
shot was going to be close but D.J. Noerr would
edge out the rest of the competition to grab the
Casey Johnson Pro AM Hole Shot Award for the second
time this season.

Despite crashing in Production A
class Elka Suspension's Garrin Fuller took
the win in the Pro-Am ATV Class aboard his
Honda TRX450R ATV |
The race was very exciting, Collins Webster would
come around on lap one with the lead. It looked
like Webster was going to win the race in a dominating
fashion like he had in previous rounds. He would
lead until lap four when Garrin Fuller would charge
hard and pass the leader- Webster putting him in
second place. Fuller would continue leading through
pit stops and take the checkered flag first. After
the race it was clear that Fuller was looking forward
to the last round. “The weekend was great.
We are going into the last round with a shot at
the championship. We will need luck on our side,
but with heads held high we are hopeful. I would
really like to thank the Duncan family for all their
help. It wouldn’t be possible without them”
commented Fuller.
