WORCS Round 6 - Washougal MX - Open A Holeshot
Cody Mitchell #83 grabbed the Open A Holeshot abord his Honda TRX450R ATV

With a shortened schedule because of the combined bike / ATV weekend, the Open A line was ready to take off following Pro Practice. Open A regular Cody Mitchell #83 would pull the holeshot. Collins Webster #39 and Chase Thomas #622 would be right on his back bumper. Thomas would quickly take over the lead and take the win in Open A. Cody Mitchell #83 would finish second and Daniel Grodski #800 would finish in third.

At Round 6 in Washougal, Washington the Pro-Am rider who earned the holeshot would receive the Casey Johnson #312 Pro Am Hole Shot Award, a two hundred dollar cash prize, sponsored by the Casey Johnson Memorial Fund. The first person to receive the award would be D.J. Noerr # 842. He rounded the turn first and the field was onto the motocross section of the track.

During the first lap Chase Thomas #622 would take the lead from Noerr #842. The riders came around on the first lap, with Thomas #622 in first, Fuller #45 in second, Webster #39 in third, Johnson #1P in fourth and Cody Mitchell #83 in fifth. D.J. Noerr #842 hit a tree on his first lap and jammed his wrist. His injury would put him out for the remainder of the race. Many of the riders commented on the track being dusty and difficult to pass on. A testament to their comments the top seven riders from lap 2 on held their position for the entire ten- lap ninety-minute race.

Chase Thomas #622 would be the first to cross the finish line with his first Pro Am win ever! He was more than excited, “I rode a safe race away from the trees on one of the roughest courses I have ever ridden. The fact that I was able to finish twenty three seconds in front of Garrin Fuller shows how brutal the course was” commented Thomas after the race.
