Mark Watson would be running in good position
after the track was cut due to inclimate
weather but would drop back slightly before
the end of the race |
A slightly delayed second moto started in the heavy
rain. It was Mark Watson for Great-Britain that
took the Holeshot and the lead for almost the entire
race. All the main contenders followed Watson closely
and battled it out with each other. Adrian Mangieu
could take second place from Joe Maessen six rounds
into the moto. Riders gained and lost places every
round due to the mud and bad conditions of the track.
In the final four laps of the race, the entire top
10 changed positions. Watson lost two positions
and crossed the line as third. Joe Maessen, whom
lost and then regained second place, fell out the
top 5 in the final lap.
Emanuele Giovanelli took second and then fourth.
Adrian Mangieu, who was riding in third position,
had to be happy with a place just out of the top
10. Davy De Cuyper flawless and silent race. The
Belgian rider gained 4 positions in the final
2 laps and ended up as winner of the moto.

Matthieu Ternynck would start out in great
position & eventually take over the
lead to win the final moto of the day |
The final moto of the weekend would decide which
country would take the overall. Once again, Mark
Watson and his KTM entered the corner first. Matthieu
Ternynck also knew a great start and immediately
attacked, with success none the less. Not much later,
the Frenchmen took control and built out a serious
lead of over 20 seconds. Joe Maessen corrected his
previous result and secured second place.
Thereby, saving precious points for the overall.
For Sweden, Kalle Gyllensvaan and his KTM took
third. Great-Britain’s second rider in the
race, Carl Bunce, had a great start from the second
row and put himself in the top five.

Nicola Montalbini & crew check over
his Honda TRX450R ATV after it gets punished
during the muddy race. Montalbini &
his team would see great success during
the day & would come out on top of the
2010 European Nations Cup |
Unfortunately, just over half way the race Bunce
lost several places. Nicola Montalbini showed that
he could fight his way back after a lesser start.
With a fourth place, Montalbini secured valuable
points for Italy.
With the 5 best results counted up for each nation,
Italy clearly won the 2010 edition of the European
Nations Cup. Holland was also very consistent
and took second before Belgium, that went home
with the bronze. Great-Britain had to settle for
fourth place after a great qualifying. Latvia
could go home with a fifth place.
Every year this race draws in the best races
from all over the Eauropean Nations and requires
racers to push themselves to the limit as they
race for one of the most coveted titles in the
Eauropean ATV MX industry!
