#18 Jan Vlaeymans was right there on Montalbini's
bumper & secured the pass only moments
before the checkered flag flew on the second
moto |
In front Vlaeymans and Montalbini battled for first
place. Behind them, Paul Holmes was making his way
in the traffic to the number three spot.
By pushing hard in the second half of the race,
he salvaged valuable points in the Championship.
Jan Vlaeymans was able to pass Montalbini in
the second to last lap and lay his hands on the
25 points. Rasmus Nielsen (Yamaha) silvered his
good start and ended on the 7th position.

Vlaeymans again had company for the third
moto & would be passed by a hard charging
Paul Holmes before they crossed the finish
line |
The last moto of the Championship would determine
the second place in the Championship. It was James
Hellewel (KTM Factory) that took the Holeshot. Behind
Hellewel, Warnia nestled himself on the number two
spot and started attacking immediately. In third
was Jan Vlaeymans, who was followed by Holmes already
after a few rounds.
Davy De Cuyper proved his growth by claiming
the fourth position, till a broken chain took
him out of the race. Rasmus Nielsen worked through
the pack and parked himself on a top 5 spot.

Jeremie Warnia claims his second Moto win
of the day, but would finish off the podium
after issues in Moto 2 |
Out front Warnia pulled a second a lap away from
the rest of the field. He controlled the race till
the end. Thereby having two of the three moto wins
under his belt. Behind him, Paul Holmes and Jan
Vlaeymans had a fierce battle lap after lap. Holmes
could benefit from a small mistake and put his KTM
into second place. Nevertheless, Vlaeymans kept
attacking and the two never had more than 20 feet
between them the entire race. Towards the end Holmes
had just a good second on Vlaeymans. With the results
of the day, Paul Holmes and Jan Vlaeymans were tied
for second place.
With a tie in points and moto wins, it came down
to the number of seconds places. Jan Vlaeymans
realized 4 seconds during the season, whereas
Paul Holmes had 6. The Vice-Championship title
was his after a great strive. Fourth place was
for Nicola Montalbini with a lead of 12 points
on number five Joe Maessen.
