#113 Romain Couprie was able to hold off
#1 Paul Holmes charge in Moto One to claim
the win |
Nicola Montalbini (Honda-Team Cozzi) held the second
spot early on in the race, but Paul Holmes quickly
took over the second spot. Holmes tried closing
the gap on Couprie, but Couprie answered the challenge
with 3 fast laps, which allowed him to pull away
from Holmes.
Third place went to Matthieu Ternynck (Yamaha
Laeger-Drag’on). Ternynck rode in fourth
place the first few laps. But, he was able to
take third. Joe Maessen ended up in fourth position
and was followed by Jan Vlaeymans.
Jason Macbeth was riding in sixth position, when
he lost his spark. Luckily, it happened close
to the finish line and Macbeth was able to push
his bike over the finish salvaging valuable points
in the championship.

Matthieu Ternynck grabbed the holeshot for
moto 2, and would finish out the moto in
the third spot on the podium |
Second moto , Matthieu Ternynck took the Holeshot
on his Yamaha Laeger YZF450R. The young Frenchmen
took the lead and stayed in front till half way
through the race. Then, Romain Couprie was able
to overtake both Joe Maessen and Matthieu Ternynck.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last long because
of a CDI that came loose on Couprie’s engine,
which brought his charge to a stop, and Couprie
would drop back to a seventh place finish
Paul Holmes would take over the lead, but in
the final laps, Holmes, Ternynck and Vlaeymans
pushed as hard as they could for the victory.
Vlaeymans, who charged from a midpack start, was
eager to finish on the box. In the second to last
lap, he overtook Ternynck and made his way to
Holmes on the three consecutive jumps.

Paul Holmes edged out Jan Vlaeymans for
the Moto win after a dramatic battle to
the finish line with Vlaeymans finishing
only 0.212 seconds behind Holmes |
Holmes remained calm and took the better line
to take the win over Vlaeymans less than 0.212
seconds behind Holmes in second place with Ternynck
rounding out the top three.
Behind the top three, it was Nicola Montalbini
that claimed fourth place before Joe Maessen.
Maessen was riding in second position for a long
time. A loose ignition head cost him 2 places.
Luckily, he found the problem very quickly and
was able to continue his moto. Jason Macbeth was
pushing hard, but he ended up at the sixth place,
with some engine trouble which resulted in power
loss.
