2014 Terracross Championship
UTV Racing - Round 6
::Continued::
“I was afraid that something was going to break, but everything worked out for me. I had a good start and I just kept pushing. I caught up to Doug, but he is really hard to pass, so I finished in second and I am really happy with that because it got me the championship. I super stoked for it, and I am really surprised. I didn’t expect it at the beginning of the year,” said Luburgh who had another reason to celebrate after his sister, Jami Luburgh claimed the Women’s Pro championship as well.

Colten Moore, who was also racing a borrowed RZR, Doug Gust and Mickey Thomas were the top qualifiers for round six and were the lucky three to start on the front row. Starting on the front row was definitely an advantage for Colten Moore as he grabbed the holeshot and got off to an early lead, with Doug Gust hot on his heels. Moore led for several laps but dropped back after Gust and Jason Luburgh were able to make the pass.

“I finally finished a race. Every race I have run so far I have either crashed or broke something, so I am pumped to be on the podium. I was up front and led for a couple of laps, but Doug got under me and I ended up in third, but I am pretty happy with that. Dana (Creech) designed a really technical track, and he has done a great job with it all season, and it has been a lot of fun,” said Moore.

Dana Creech ran into a barrier during qualifiers, which sent him to the LCQ and put him towards the back on the start, but that didn’t stop him from making a hard charge through the pack. Creech soon caught up to Mickey Thomas and began to apply the pressure.

“I finished fourth today and ended up with second in points. I am actually really happy with that after a DNF and not even qualifying at one of the rounds. I even had to go to the LCQ for this one. I had a good start in qualifiers and took myself out on a barrier. It was totally self inflicted pain. I got to go in the back row of the second start, so I was way in the back and had my work cut out for me. I really love being a part of the Terracross series and getting to design these courses and make them technical. I love doing that because it really shows you who the pro drivers are,” said Creech.
