Bentleyville, PA(5/16/2008) - The
American Suzuki ATV Regional championship series
was forced to make a mid season track change for
Round #3, the owners at R&D Raceway welcome
racers with open arms. While it seems the weather
man is never right, his rain forecasts for the first
three rounds have been right on. A storm system
rolling through Saturday morning forced the track
crew to cancel practice, but did not take the day
off. The crew immediately began to scrap the track,
to prepare the best possible track for Sundays racing.
The R&D Raceway stretches just over a mile
long and features everything from triples to hill
climbs. An uphill start dropped riders into a
short series of elevation changes. Following a
series of jumps, riders began their assent up
the large hill climb. A left hand hair pin turn
sent riders right back down the hill. When sun
rose Sunday morning and riders began rolling in,
as did the rain. Although short lived, the track
became soaked creating conditions similar to round
#1 at Doublin Gap.
Despite the conditions, the Pro-Am class fielded
riders all in the hunt of a championship. Kyle
Dammann took his first win at round #1 and following
a holeshot, he would mark up his second win for
the season. Along with the win, Dammann would
propel himself 19 points ahead of second place
in the points race. East Coast ATV Rider, Kale
Witmer, would put on a hard charge from a mid
pack start, turning a narrowed track into his
own domain. Although he would be within striking
range of a moto win, he would fall a few feet
short for a solid second place finish. Christopher
Walls of North Hampton, PA brought home a third
place finish, sealing him second place in points.
While Bobby Ross was absent, he would retain his
third place points. Sharing fourth place in points
is; Trevor Borger, Drew Gilbert, and Josh Deemer.
Only 3 rounds down, and the points race is already
heating up.

The large
hill climb

One lane
conditions caused many bottle necks in
tight corners

Kyle Dammann not only holds the points lead in
the Pro-Am class, but an 11 point lead in the
450A class as well. Christopher Walls would take
home a win in the A class this weekend, propelling
him into second place in points. Trevor Borger's
6th place finish dropped him back 3 points into
third in points. In the largest class of the day,
Josh Deemer would push his Honda hard and snag
a second place finish. Matthew Aldinger would
round out the podium on his Suzuki LTR.

Kale Witmer
made a hard charge for the lead

Charlie Mcvay was well prepared for the conditions
and would dominate the 450B class from start to
finish in the single moto format day of racing.
His win pushed him into second place in points,
just behind the #114 machine of Peter Rio. Landon
Herbst has been riding solid all year and proved
his ability to overcome poor conditions with a
second place finish. Sitting in 4th place in points,
he is just two points behind Trvor Coots of Bath,
NY.
Once again, racing proved to be strong throughout
the remaining classes. Surely the rescheduling
of round #4, brought smiles to some, others welcomed
another round of mud racing. PAMX resumes on May
23-25 at the High Point Raceway in conjunction
with the ATVA National Series.
