Shippensburg, PA (4/22/2008) -
A typical northeast spring weekend was in store
for riders as they made the trek to the Doublin
Gap race facilities. Even with a chance of rain
in the forecast, rider turnout stood strong approaching
250 riders ready to hit the dirt during Saturday's
practice session, showing the rider support of the
American Suzuki ATV Regional Championship Series.
Sunny skies and 80degree weather graced the skies
as riders took to the track. When the first practice
was released, it was quickly noticed that the
track, notoriously a dirt bike track, would be
no match for the competitors racing this weekend.
Practice sessions were broken down into 15 minutes
each. By the end of the day, each rider would
have five opportunities to ride, equating to over
an hour practice time. One rider went on to comment,
"I spend more time out on the track here
than I would at practice track. I saved half of
my money and got to rider against the people I
am going to be racing tomorrow."

Racing Holeshot
|
Although Sunday's weather was a complete 180
of Saturday, few riders left the grounds. The
rain started early in the morning and would continue
throughout the day. The switch was made to a single
moto format, winner takes all. A short practice
would be opened for riders that did not have the
chance to ride during Saturday's practice session.
Shortly following, the Pro-Am riders would take
the gate. As they splashed into the first turn,
it would be the #641 machine of Kyle Dammann taking
the holeshot.
Dammann would go on to extend a comfortable
lead as the riders would start to spread out early.
While some were out to salvage points, Bobby Ross
was not about to left of the throttle. Clearing
nearly every jump he did on Saturday, Ross put
on a hard charge. Although he would not be able
to chase down Dammann, he would secure a second
place finish.

With Dammann and Ross sealing up first and second,
Taylor Condarcure would wrap up the podium aboard
his Suzuki LTR. Rounding out the top five was
Josh Deemer followed by Christopher Walls.
The Open A class once again saw Kyle Dammann
tally up another win for the 2008 season. Taylor
Condarcure slipped into second followed by Drew
Gilbert, making it an all Suzuki Podium. Austin
Murphy made the travel from Jackson, NJ and would
take home fourth, while Trevor Borger would round
out the top five.
In other ranks, the competition proved strong
and gave promise to a great
2008 season of racing.
