Clinches Quad-X Pro ATV Championship

Maxxis' #549 Beau Baron went 2-2 for 2nd
Overall |
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron was looking strong
in the first moto as he charged off the line behind
Dustin Nelson. Baron was keeping close and waiting
for an opportunity to get by Nelson, but halfway
through the moto, Baron overshot a big tabletop
and flat landed; bending his axle and taking the
wind out of his sails. Baron’s incident caused
him to fall off pace, but he was still able to hang
on to second place as he reached the checkered flag.
In moto two, Baron was in second off the start
once again, but was going at a slower pace than
in the first moto. Baron cruised to a second place
finish for second overall on the pro podium.
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s David Haagsma put together
two solid motos for round seven. Haagsma worked
himself into the number three spot in the first
moto and held off challenger Josh Row to take
third at the checkered flag. Moto two was almost
the same as he again took an early third place
position and held it to the checkered flag.

#422
David Haagsma claimed the final spot on
the Podium for the third time this season
with a 3-3 finish |
Yamaha's
#3 Josh Row claimed the 4th Overall spot,
but he may be out for the rest of the season
for shoulder surgery |
Josh Row was consistent as he rode two solid
motos, going 4-4 for fourth overall. Unfortunately
this may be Row’s final race for a while
as he has been struggling with dual shoulder injuries
for most of the season and will be requiring surgery
to fix the problem. “It’s really a
tough break for Josh, but this is something he
has been dealing with for a while and needs to
get taken care of. Even though he has been injured,
you would never know it because he has been doing
quite well in spite of it,” said Row’s
teammate, Dustin Nelson.
Row is expected to make a full recovery and return
to the Yamaha team for the 2012 season where he
will be racing in both the Quad X and WORCS series’.
Even if Row does not race the final round of the
Quad X series at Glen Helen next month, he will
still finish in at least fourth place in pro points.

Ethan Thatcher rounded out the Top 5, which
has Thatcher currently 4th in the points
race behind #3 Josh Row heading into the
final round |
Ethan Thatcher held off Even Spooner and Jason Fife
in the first moto to take a fifth place finish.
In moto two, Thatcher was under pressure from Kody
Evans, but Thatcher held his ground and took another
fifth place finish, allowing him to round out the
top five overall. Thatcher is currently fourth I
pro points, but if Josh Row is unable to race in
the final round, he could easily move into the top
three in season end points.
Evan Spooner took sixth in moto one and followed
it up with a seventh place finish in moto two
for sixth overall, with Jason Fife’s 7-8
finishes giving him seventh. Kody Evans took a
tenth place finish in the first moto after encountering
issues, but came back with a sixth place finish
in moto two that would put him in eighth overall.
Colt Brinkerhoff hung on for a ninth place overall
finish while Lance Hancock would round out the
top ten in the pro class.
The final round of the 2011 Yamaha Quad X Series
will head to Glen Helen Raceway on October 29th,
where reigning champion, Dustin Nelson, will be
going for his eighth consecutive overall pro win.
