Takes Victory at Whiskey Run OMA ATV National
::Continued::
Third place overall was earned by Fred Mudd in
the thirty plus ATV class. Mudd was the only other
racer besides Hulsey and Martin to make seven
laps in the event, completing his seventh go round
nine minutes and twenty nine seconds behind the
second place DWT Kal-Gard Honda of Kyle Martin.
Meanwhile Brandon Symmes found his Beachfront
Motorsports Moose Racing Yamaha between Hulsey
and Martin in time but a lap down. That position
garnered the A ATV class racer fourth place overall.

Fred
Mudd completed his 7 laps of the race just
over 9 minutes behind the 2nd place of Martin
to finish 3rd overall on the Pro Podium |
Brandon
Symmes grabbed 4th overall on the day &
found the track to his liking & also
ran into a bit of luck as he capitalized
on the mistakes of others to help him out |
Symmes stated “It was a great day. I loved
the track. It was super technical.” He said
“I had a little bit of luck out there. You
had to pick the right lines. There was a lot of
logs and a lot of fun stuff to get stuck on.”
And, regarding the luck aspect at the event, Symmes
smiled and said “I’d like to thank
Mike Husband for breaking his chain.” Mr.
Husband, who also races in the A ATV class, was
running in third place overall for the first two
laps of the event. Lap three showed him in fourth
overall, but the mechanical failure left Symmes
to inherit and maintain fourth place overall at
lap four.

After four rounds of competition the series points
battle is beginning to take shape. Bryan Hulsey
and John Pitts are now tied for the lead with
Kyle Martin just five points behind. Josh Beavers
is only four points behind Martin at this time.
With thirty points awarded for first place, twenty
five for second, and twenty one earned for third
it is still anybody’s game. The courses
are still as tough as ever at the OMA Nationals
events. But that is what this series is all about.
Tight, technical trails that challenge even the
best riders keep this series fresh and exciting.
Hulsey said “the track was great.”
Martin’s comment was “It was a real
cool track. It ended up being a lot better than
what I kind of thought it would be.” Even
John Pitts, who spent the first lap in a fog after
crashing hard said “it was quite fun.”
Why not come out to an OMA Nationals event and
find out for yourself how much fun you can have
while being challenged to a point you think is
beyond your ability. You might be surprised what
you can learn when Bill Gusse makes you work this
hard. Check out omanationals.com for more information
and a schedule of upcoming events. This is offroad
racing.
