Josh Beavers - KTM 525XC ATV
Josh Beavers snatched up 3rd place overall & moved into the series points lead on his Super Cycle/Johnny Signs KTM ATV

Third place was earned by Josh Beavers after a day of battling brake problems again on his Rocket Ron Racing SICC KTM. The Indiana racer has made it to the podium twice this season and currently holds a twelve point lead over John Pitts in the championship points chase. Beavers said “well, it ran good, but I’m still having brake issues. You gotta be able to slow down to go fast. I was having some problems again with my brakes a few laps into it.”

Beavers figured a finish would be better than a crash, and smart riding put him on the podium for his second time this season at the OMA Nationals. “I decided just to chill out and go for a trail ride and settle for third,” he recalled. “I didn’t want to take a chance on piling the thing up.”

Three rounds of the ten race OMA Nationals series have been completed. Two rounds were won by Yamaha’s and one by a Honda. The KTM of Josh Beavers sits at the top of the points heap so far with two podium finishes out of three races. Beavers has been fast even while battling brake issues, so the future looks bright for him.

John Pitts
John Pitts lost valuable time performing repairs to his machine, dropping Pitts to fourth place in the event
John Pitts missed round one but is currently holding second place in points. Reigning series champion Kyle Martin posted up a second place finish at this event to tie him with former series champion Bryan Hulsey, who missed round three due to a schedule conflict. And the Suzuki of Todd Demaree was absent from round three and sits in fifth place on the series leader board.

This is shaping up to be an exciting season of racing at the Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals. The series that keeps classic woods racing alive has a lot to offer spectators and racers alike. Why not give yourself a shot at some old school trails that just might make you cuss Bill Gusse while you become a better rider in the process. Check out omanationals.com for more information and a schedule. This is offroad racing.
