According to third place finisher John Pitts
“it went really good.” The Fasst handlebars
Duncan Racing Honda piloted by Pitts shot to the
lead with a surprised but concerned racer aboard.
“I was kind of scared when I got the holeshot”
he admitted. “I didn’t know what was
going to happen after that.” Pitts held
the lead spot for two laps before relinquishing
the position to eventual race winner Bryan Hulsey.
“It was great. I can’t complain about
anything” he said with a smile. “The
track was perfect. It wasn’t too dusty and
it was perfect in the woods. I had a good race.”

Curt DeMay collected
fourth place for his efforts at the
OMA Moonshine GP.
|
Washington, Illinois based lady racer
Kim Muzzarelli won the A class aboard
her "wicked fast" Yamaha Raptor. |
Curt DeMay managed to take fourth place
in a race that was fairly uneventful aboard
his Gieson Motorsports Quad City Quad Doctor
Yamaha. “I didn’t get a very good
start. It was like fifth, sixth. I caught
Kyle, then I had to get gas.” After
the fuel stop DeMay said “he pulled
on me again and I caught him. I followed him
about a lap. Then he hit a tree and I got
by him and that’s all.” DeMay
was followed by the last racer to finish nine
laps of the fast but demanding course. Thryce
Hathcock finished fifth overall aboard his
self sponsored Plus Thirty class Honda 450.
The Fenton, Missouri racer said “It
was a excellent track. It was nice. It was
a little muddy in a couple spots, but other
than that it was wide open.” Lady racer
Kim Muzzarelli also commented on the speed
of the event that she ran aboard her TORC
AC Racing Yamaha Raptor. “It was fun.
It was a fun, fast track” she said.
“I was worried about riding the raptor,
but it felt pretty good. I forgot how scary
fast those things are in the straightaways.
It was a good time.” Muzzarelli finished
first in the A class and eleventh overall.
The season is nearly over, but the championship
battle is still in full swing heading in to
the Moose Run in Morrison, Illinois. Bryan Hulsey
has won three events in a row and is poised
to take his first OMA Nationals championship.
But Rob Zimmerman is determined to not let that
happen. Only eight points separate the two determined
racers. Shane Gaunt is also still in play with
his Aupperle Racing Gaunt Motorsports Honda.
A DNF in this event set him back in the points
race, but this thing is not over yet. Check
out omanationals.com
for more information. We look forward to an
exciting conclusion to the OMA Nationals season
at the infamous Moose Run. It is a race like
no other. This is offroad racing.
