Millville, MN - It was a beautiful
day in Millville, Minnesota for the Parts Unlimited
OMA Nationals Rekluse Spring creek GP. After two
hours of battling nose to tail Bryan Hulsey emerged
victorious aboard the Moose Racing Dirt Works Honda.
Hulsey had a gap of only five seconds on day long
rival Shane Gaunt aboard the Hinson Scott Goggles
Honda. Rob Zimmerman collected third place riding
his Team Honda Moose Racing 450r. Minnesota racer
Andrew Snyder took fourth place aboard a privateer
Honda, while A Class rider John Pitts drove his
Dirt Works Performance Duncan Racing Honda to fifth
place overall. The Country Sports Racing Honda of
Rob Weis took fifth place in the pro class.
“The course lended itself to the person
that was in the lead today” said Hulsey,
“because there was nowhere to pass out there
but the motocross track.” The Missouri Hare
scrambles champion kept Gaunt behind him for the
entire race while fighting with a stuck throttle
and brake fade. The sticking throttle caused Hulsey
to overheat his brakes. According to the Duro
Tires Motion Pro racer the brakes were an issue,
but, he said “luckily you didn’t need
brakes on the motocross track, because I wore
my brakes out trying to keep the bike from blowing
through turns with a stuck throttle. He (Gaunt)
rode a real clean race and I just knew I had to
make no mistakes in the woods. I just tried to
ride smart out there and keep from getting tangled
up with anything. Luck went my way today.”

Shane Gaunt
from Morton, Illinois badgered Bryan Hulsey
for the entire race and finished just
five seconds behind to take a well deserved
second place at the event.

Morton, Illinois based Shane Gaunt put up a
good fight, but he could not get past Hulsey with
the Aupperle Racing Lonestar Honda. After pushing
for two hours and six minutes over ten laps of
the winding rollercoaster ride through the woods,
Gaunt finished second but he still wore a huge
smile. “It was a good race,” said
Gaunt. “He couldn’t get away from
me, and I couldn’t pass him”
