Lempster, NH(10/21/2007) - Jolly
Roger Motorsports Park was the home for the final
round of the New England ATV Motocross series.
The New England ATV Motocross series is the largest
ATV racing series in the North East and attracted
ATV racers of all degrees to the season finale
at Jolly Roger Motorsports Park.
The staff and personnel were of a warm nature
and really had the event planned out to the
“t”. As I walked the pits, browsing
through the race teams I was kindly greeted
by people that had never seen me before in their
lives and was often found myself chatting about
racing, the sport, and how great this series
has really become. The track was also groomed
as well as it could be prior to the start of
many races and was kept debris free for the
remainder of the day.
The season finale was originally scheduled
for October 13-14th, but was postponed because
of rainy and cold conditions during the week
prior to the race. Unfortunately, the weather
didn’t improve much for new date either
as heavy rains continued to pound the race course
much of Friday night, and chilly weather persuaded
many riders to not participate during Saturday’s
practices. The rain held off for most of Saturday’s
practices and all of the motos on Sunday.
Sunday’s races were plagued with soupy
conditions and proved to many riders that this
isn‘t always the best weather to be racing
in. Many racers took a tumble after the starting
gate including Lost Creek Cycle / Suzuki’s
Joe Haavisto, after the bobble, Haavisto boarded
the machine again and took off after the pack,
ending in a 4th place overall position.

For many riders, this final race of the season
was a mere “victory lap” as they
knew they had already done the hard work in
the earlier season to expand their points leads.
Eric Hooper being one of them, piloted his #64
Yamaha YFZ-450 to the overall championship in
the Open Expert A class, while brother, Kyle
Hooper dominated the 4-Stroke A class aboard
his #36 YFZ-450.

Women's
Amy Thompson dominated the competition
in 2007 for the Championship |
Women race in the NEATV-MX series as well and
not only is there a good number of female races,
but they are fast! This class ran the same course
as the big boys and really is exciting to watch.
#103 Amy Thompson owned the overall victory
for this class for the season by controlling
first place by a nearly 200 point lead ahead
of the 2nd place position of #48 Cassandra.
