Modena, NY (5/13/2014) - The 2014 NEATV-MX series was back in the state of New York for round 2 of the series which saw a beautiful Spring day on Sunday for the racing action at AK Farms MX facility in Modena, NY. The weekend, however, was not all dry as Saturday experienced some very heavy rain showers but left the track in good racing order for Sunday. Can-Am’s Josh Creamer, Joel Hetrick, and Mathieu Deroy, the three podium-winners for round one, were not in attendance for this round and it opened the door for last year’s Pro and Pro-Am champions Travis Moore, and Preston Young to duke it out on this MX stage.
The Pro class racers headed to the gate and prepared for battle amongst each other on the rough and dusty track for the eight-lap moto.
DRT Motorsports / DASA / Hearth and Home’s Preston Young mounted a charge early on in the moto by taking the holeshot well ahead of the rest of the pack. From there, Young was under fire from Can-Am’s Travis Moore who was riding in second place. Halfway into the second lap Moore and Young came together slightly sending Moore off his quad and allowing Young some breathing room. Young went on to ride a smooth race and finish the moto in first place.

FOX / Rath / DRT’s Young was again quick on the throttle coming out of the Pro moto two holeshot with a good position but not the one he normally liked. Young was forced wide out of the holeshot as fellow Honda mounted Jon Glynn was the man with the holeshot for this moto. Young stayed calm however, moving from his mid-pack start up into third place by the end of the eight-lapper. This position with Moore taking the moto win and Cody Paolella in second place, sealed the deal for Young’s first Pro overall win of the season.

“I just tried to ride really smooth out there on the rough track. The whoop sections were really peaky and I knew if you messed up there you were done so I just stayed calm and rode my race. Travis was behind me in the first moto and I got a little nervous but then I felt a lil’ tap and all of a sudden he wasn’t there anymore. There is a lot of competition here and I love the racing action that happened today and I’m excited for the rest of the season,” said Young.
BCS Performance / Can-Am / Whitcher Motorsport’s Travis Moore showed he still has what it takes to get back on the podium, even after taking a spill in the first Pro moto. Moore came out of the holeshot with a solid start for the first moto of the day and battled his way up to fight Young for the top spot. While rounding a corner, Moore and Young came together sending Moore off his DS450 and into the dirt. This however only put a little fire back into the “Tennessee Tornado” as he charged his way back into a fourth place spot by the end of the moto.

Moto two for DWT / Elka / FLY’s Travis Moore was a little bit better for him as he came off the line in fourth place heading into the first whoop section of the course. Moore from here had his work cut out for him with three fast racers in front of him including RJ Machine’s Jayden Hickson who was up front and pulling away. Moore quickly made his way around Glynn on the first uphill whoop section and then set his sights on Paolella running in second place. With Hickson going out of the contest with a motor issue, Paolella was in the lead but not for long as Moore put a clean pass on the Polaris rider heading into the big uphill double. Moore kept his head on straight for the remainder of the moto and came away with the win and second place overall for the day.

“My Whitcher Motorsports / BCS Performance Can-Am was running awesome today and I can’t thank everyone enough for helping me out. My shoulder is really putting a damper on my season but I’ve trained harder than I ever have coming into this season and I’ll let nothing stop or slow me down. Today was awesome for us and I can’t wait for the rest of the season,” said Moore.
