NEATV-MX - New England ATV Motocross Series

2010 NEATV-MX Pro & Pro-Am ATV Race Report
::Continued::

Pro-AM ATV Main

The Pro-Am ATV class was sliced down to a one-moto format because of the torrential downpour conditions that mother natured decided to throw on us before the start of the Pro ATV moto two. The scoring from Pro-Am moto one was decided for the final scoring and Joe Haavisto was the top-performer in this class as well.

Cody Miller - CanAm DS450 ATV
Can-Am's #1 Joe Haavisto grabbed the Pro-Am Holeshot by edging out #270 Jason Connell & #22 Cody Miller

Haavisto snuffed out the competition by grabbing the holeshot, and seemed to have regained his spark as he lead the race from start to finish to claim the win. “Tire selection is very big for this track and our Goldspeeds hooked up great,” said Haavisto after the race.. Haavisto has always been a force to be reckoned with on the more rough-and-tumble tracks and he continued to prove it this weekend.

Joe Haavisto  - Can-Am DS450 ATV
#1 Joe Haavisto may have held the lead from start to finish, but he had #270 Jason Connell hot on his heals the entire moto with Haavisto unable to pull away from Connell who would finish in 2nd place

Jason Connell - Honda TRX 450R ATV

It won't be long before we see #270 Jason Connell on top of the box

Following the champ was Jason Connell on his Walsh Honda. Connell was right behind Haavisto during the holeshot and never let him get out of his sights as he and Haavisto were gunning for the number one spot. As the laps ticked down Connell would put the nose of his Honda to the back tires of Haavisto’s Can-Am but in the end was not able to seal the deal and settled for a very respectable second place.

Following the pair of front runners was the current points leader, Cody Miller. Miller put on a great run but the slippery sands of Southwick provided limited passing opportunities for the racers and was forced to stick with his position for the remainder of the race.

Canada’s Jasmin Plante was in fourth position as the checkered flag flew at the end of the six-lapper. Myles Santaniello made his return after his injury at round two at Jolly Roger in New Hampshire and grabbed a 5th place position at his home track of Southwick this weekend.

The next round of the NEATV-MX Championship Series will head to the coastal sand track of Capeway Rovers in Middleboro, Massachusetts on June 13th where Joe Haavisto will be looking to repeat with a set of wins and jump up the ladder of this intense Pro and Pro-Am point chase.
