Motoworks'
Can-Am DS450 new racer 2-time defending
champ Joe Haavisto charging hard in
the Pro class to claim the final spot
on the Podium
|
Joe Haavisto, the defending 2008 and 2009 Pro
and Pro-Am champion, was riding a brand new Motoworks
powered Can- Am DS450. Haavisto made the switch
from Kawasaki to Can-Am this year, and seems really
excited and comfortable on his new ride. Despite
limited practice time on the Canadian machine,
Haavisto put on an impressive show and charged
hard in the thick muck. Haavisto came from a fourth
place start to track down third place KTM racer,
Vinny Mofford, and in the beginning of the second
lap, Haavisto would make a critical pass in the
whoop section before the finish line table-top
to take over the number three spot.
Haavisto would hold that position all the way
to the checkered flag. "On Saturday the
track had a lot of blue groove and then it rained
all night and the blue groove got really slick
and the sides of the track were thick, deep
mud that if you got off into it, you would get
stuck", said Haavisto, who is always a
force to be reckoned with on his home soil,
and is very hopeful for a win at his local track
in Lempster, NH next weekend.

BCS Can-Am
pilot Cody Miller ditched his goggles
partway through the race and was still
able to finish in 4th place
|
Just off the podium in the 4th spot, was the #22
of BCS Performance Can- Am rider, Cody Miller.
“My Can-Am ran perfect, BCS Performance
did a very good job prepping my quad for the muddy
race, and my GoldSpeed Cross Country tires hooked
up great”, said Miller. Miller came of the
line with a 6th place start after hydroplaning
at the apex of the first turn. Miller battled
with Canadian racer Jasmin Plante and was able
to make the pass when Plante ran into mechanical
issues.
From there, Miller made his way to KTM mounted
Vinny Mofford and was able to secure the pass
before the checkered flag flew to take a fourth
place finish. Miller has raced once before in
2009 at Jolly Roger and is looking forward to
the next race; “I think it’ll be
a lot better of a race because the weather should
be better and we will actually get to see how
everyone stacks up,” Miller said.
Fellow BCS Performance and Can-Am mounted riders,
#44 Myles Santaniello and #50 Ralle Rookey finished
directly behind miller in 5th and 6th place
respectively. They are both looking forward
to better weather at the next round as well
and are glad to be contenders in the future
round of the 2010 series.
