Dirt Track ATV Racing - Round 3 - Race Report
::Continued::

#401
Eric Jennings won the Pro-Am main by over
five seconds on his ESJ Graphics Yamaha
YFZ450R Sport ATV |
Ace’s achilles heal would prove to be his
brakes as they would fade and then eventually become
non-existent allowing Jennings to get by him. With
Ace’s brakes becoming increasingly worn out,
Jennings would slip away with a 5 second lead or
better for the win. Ace would however be able to
battle through and hang on for 2nd place. Tru-Way
Racing’s Kris Bures would put his Honda ride
in the 3rd place position after battling through
the dust and a field of other riders.

#21
Kris Bures grabbed both Pro Heat Holeshots
at NEEDT Round 3 |
The first of the two Pro heats would see Tru-Way
Racing’s Kris Bures take the early holeshot
and lead Ace through the entire moto to take the
win setting him up for a great start for the night’s
main event.
Pro heat two would see a battle between number
92 Michael Houghton aboard his Baldwin Racing
Honda and Yamaha/Roberts Racing’s Eric Jennings.
Houghton would come out the victor as the track
remained to be one-lined in some sections.
The time was here that everyone had been waiting
for, the Pro Main. With much cooler temps and
a thick mist rolling in this provided a bit of
relief for the riders to be out of the hot sun
and concentrate on laying down some fast lap times.
Dave Dent of Dent Builders would put his number
66 Honda TRX450R right on pace with fellow Honda
mounted Brian Ace as the field tore off the line.
Dent and Ace came to the first turn with Ace edging
him out for the $150 Dent Builders Holeshot award.

After
moving into second place on lap two Eric
Jennings followed Brian Ace until lap five
before making the pass to take the win in
the Pro Main |
Number 401 Eric Jennings would again be right
up front in the thick of things and found himself
settling into 2nd place within the first lap.
Ace and Jennings seemed to have been tag team
partners as the two would again repeat history
from earlier in the evening. Ace would still be
in the hunt for a top spot but was still being
plagued by brake issues. Nevertheless, Ace showing
his true professional skills, battled with Jennings
for nearly 5 laps. Jennings would then again find
his groove and turn on the afterburners to gain
a 12 plus second lead over the rest of the field.

|
Despite
having brake issues #338 Brian Ace was able
to place second in the Pro Main |
Brian Ace would press on to hold off Kris Bures
and come away with a 2nd place finish leaving
Bures to hold off the number 3 of ESJ’s
Andrew Evanyke. Number 121 Jason Steadman had
an excellent run going for himself as he put his
DFR/PEP YFZ450R into the 5th place position from
the start. Unfortunately for Steadman he would
suffer mechanical failure which would allow Dave
Dent to move up and take over the position to
round out the top 5.
