Springville, IN (6/10/2013) - The 2013 AMA National MAXC Racing Series was back in action for round three of the ten round series this past weekend at Lawrence Country Recreational Park in Springville, IN. AMA MAXC Round 3 was a special event weekend dedicated to raising money for the Riley Children’s Hospital to help children in need. The weekend started out with a Miracle Trail Ride and XC riding school hosted by AMA MAXC & GNCC Pro ATV Racer Adam McGill on Saturday.
Unlike the usual race weekend format, racing took place on Sunday with clear skies with very little rainfall that made conditions perfect for a day of racing for a great cause!
“The Miracle Race is an annual race we put on with Riley Hospital for Children out of Indianapolis. A few years ago we got with the Miracle Ride Foundation to do a Miracle Race. Most people you talk to either have a personal experience or they have a family member or friend that have used Riley Hospital’s services. A lot of people don’t realize the importance of it until they need it. That’s why we do this because it is just one way we can help out,” explained AMA MAXC Racing Series owner Mike Gibbs

AMA MAXC Round 3 saw 11 Pro ATV Racers on the starting line to do battle for the number one spot on top of the podium for the 6-lap race. As soon as the Pro ATV racers took off the line, Dave Bayless Motorsports’ Brycen Neal got tangled up with fellow racer, Hayden Helmic, going into the first corner. The entanglement launched Brycen Neal over the bars as his Honda 450R ATV flipped several times. Although Neal luckily came out of the wreck relatively unharmed, Neal’s DC Cycles Honda 450R had a twisted steering stem that put an early end to his race.

After the chaotic Pro ATV holeshot, Kevin Cunningham would grab the early lead going into the woods followed closely by Adam McGill, Taylor Kiser, Walker Fowler and the reset of the Pro Class. There was an intense battle between Walker Fowler and Adam McGill for the lead after shared turned holding down the AMA MAXC Pro Class lead.
It was AmPro Yamaha’s Walker Fowler who would come out on top at AMA MAXC Round 3. Fowler, ironically also came off with a win just three weeks prior at the Limestone 100 GNCC, which also took place at the Lawrence County Recreational Park!

“The start was really knarly it sucks that Brycen took a big crash. I got into the woods all right. I kept it on four wheels and kept moving today. I ended up taking over the lead into the third or fourth lap. McGill pitted and I didn’t, I went a lap later. As soon as I pulled out of my pit he (McGill) got back around me. I followed him for about a lap and he got greedy and he ended up tagging a tree and I took the long way around and he pretty much handed it over to me because there was no where else to pass,” explained Walker Fowler of his AMA MAXC Round 3 win.
