Motoworks
/ Can-Am's Jeremie Warnia Wins Le Touquet
Quaduro |
France - The legendary beach
race of Le Touquet has a brand new king. Frenchmen
Jeremie Warnia (Motoworks - Can-am) finished first
after an almost perfect race.
The quiet French town of Le Touquet Paris Plage
was once again host of the legendary Quaduro.
Almost 500 teams and 800 riders participated
in this year’s edition. The sun was out
and so were ten thousands of spectators across
the track. They witnessed an unleashed Motoworks’
Jeremie Warnia. Just a few weeks after winning
the endurance beach race of Hossegor (France),
“Frenchie” once again finished on
top at the 2010 Le Touquet Beach Race on his
Can-Am DS450. His experience from the WORCS
and AMA series certainly paid off this weekend.
On Friday, all 800 riders underwent the traditional
technical inspection. Afterwards, the quads
remained in the “Parc Fermé”
until the next morning. The race was kicked
off by the traditional parade in downtown Le
Touquet. The quad riders were greeted by the
audience as hero’s. Once on the beach,
they assembled for the start of the 3 hour long
endurance.

Nearly 500 ATV Racers lined up
for the fifth Quaduro on the beach for
the 3 Hour Le Touquet Endurance race
|
At one o’clock, the fifth Quaduro finally
began. It was Davy Decuyper that took the holeshot
with his KTM 505SX ATV . After a somewhat slow
start, DWT’s Jeremie Warnia returned to
the city as leader of the race and never gave
it up. Yamaha’s, Romain Couprie (Audemar
– YFZ450R) and Mathieu Ternynck (Drag’on
– YFZ450R), followed shortly. The three
held their respective places until the end of
the race. Behind the leaders, Davy Decuyper
(Deforce-KTM) and Joe Maessen (Goldspeed –
YFZ450R) completed the top 5. They followed
the three Frenchmen closely.
During the start, a major incident happened
in the second and third row. On the beach were
several holes and puddles of water. Two riders
were seriously injured after a nasty crash.
The other injured riders didn’t require
the helicopter rescue.
Romain Couprie attempted to close the gap on
Jeremie Warnia in the first hour of the race,
but the Motoworks “Frenchie” was
unstoppable in Le Touquet. Both riders had to
come in for an extra pitstop to change their
exhausts. Since, the decibel check is very strict
in France. However, no time was lost during
these pitstops and the top three places remained
unchanged during the rest of the race.
