Yoshimura's
Kory Ellis Grabs the Holeshot |
The win for Ellis and Nelson secured them the first
two starting gate picks, and it worked in Ellis favor
as he was able to secure the Holeshot for the Pro Main
followed by Jeremy Schell, Phil Oppen, and Josh Frederick
with Dustin Nelson back in fifth. Cyle Chislock was
in the mix until he went down in turn two, which sent
him to the rear of the pack, but he was quickly able
to remount his quad and return to the race.

Yamaha's Dustin Nelson was on the gas in the Pro
Main trying to recover from a midpack start |
Kory Ellis was putting some real estate between himself
and the rest of the riders as the pack spread out. Dustin
Nelson was on a mission to work his way to the front,
and he quickly passed the fading Phil Oppen to move
into fourth behind Frederick. Nelson began his attack
on Frederick and was able to pickup the position with
only Schell and Ellis in his way for the lead. Next
on the hit list was Schell with Nelson claiming yet
another position, but Ellis would be a much tougher
target as he developed a comfortable distance between
himself and the rest of the pack. With the White flag
out, Nelson didn’t have a chance at catching Ellis
in the lead.
Kory Ellis would take the checkered and take over the
Yamaha./ ITP Quadcross Pro points lead in the process
followed by Dustin Nelson. The battle was on till the
checkered between Schell and Frederick, but Schell was
able to maintain the position and retain his top three
finish.

Kory Ellis claims the $1,400 Check for his 1st
place finish |
With two rounds in the record books and nine rounds
remaining, the 2007 season is starting out to be one
of the best races to the championship in Quadcross history
with Ellis currently in the drivers seat, but in racing
anything can happen, and everyone will have plenty of
time to think about the next race, which won’t
be held till April 15th back in Arizona at the Arizona
Cycle Park.
