(1/21/2007) - The 2007 Yamaha / ITP Quadcross
Season kicked off today at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino,
CA, and the weather was anything but perfect, which is
typical for this time of year with the Santa Ana Winds
gusting over 50mph causing a huge dust storm over the
area, but it surely didn’t seem to affect the turnout
as the opening round attracted a huge crowd of racers.
The Pro Class had approximately 30 riders signup with
several top pros on the list. One being, Suzuki’s
newest addition, Dustin Wimmer, on the LT-R450 Quad
Racer, which would be Wimmer’s first major motocross
race since signing with Suzuki over the winter. Alba’s
Kory Ellis was also in attendance, and he also made
the switch to Suzuki for 2007, and it is reported that
he plans on focusing on the Quadcross Series in 2007.
Also, Lonestar Racing’s Keith Little also was
in attendance, and he will remain on the Honda for 2007.
Ofcourse, the defending champion, Yamaha’s Dustin
Nelson, was in attendance along with a huge turnout
of other local Pro racers.
With such a huge Pro turnout, the first Moto was split
into two qualifying heat races to determine gate selection
for the Main. Keith Little grabbed the Holeshot in his
heat race, and held the lead for two laps before Dustin
Wimmer was able to make the pass and take over the lead.
Wimmer would go on to win the qualifier followed by
Little. Kory Ellis was on a mission as well in his qualifying
heat as he walked away from Dustin Nelson to take the
win, which set the stage for the Main.
With approximately 30 riders on the starting gate that
was two rows deep for the Pro Main, the gate dropped
with Keith Little leading the way into the Talladega
turn followed by Dustin Wimmer with Chaos breaking out
behind him them with several riders colliding. Little’s
lead would be short lived when he overshot the second
turn, which opened the door for Wimmer to take over
the lead and begin to pull away from Little.

Kory Ellis worked his way through traffic and caught
Dustin Nelson running in third several laps into the
race with Ellis eventually making the pass and setting
his sights on Little in second place. Ellis would catch
up to Little, while the battling pair also began to
reel in Wimmer in the lead.
Dustin Wimmer would hang on to claim the Pro Main win
and his first official win aboard the Suzuki LT-R450.
Keith Little would hold onto second place with Kory
Ellis finishing along side of Little in the third spot
followed by Dustin Nelson several seconds later in fourth
and Cyle Chislock rounding out the top five.
A complete race report and event overview will follow
within a few days along with the complete results, photo
gallery, and videos.
