Dustin Nelson was back to his winning ways
for round 6 at Glen Helen as he swept not
only the Pro class, bu the Open Pro class
as well |
San
Bernardino,
CA – Yamaha / Goldenwest Cycle’s
Dustin Nelson swept both the Pro Production and
Open Pro classes at round six of the 2010 ITP Quadcross
series this past weekend with MCR/Maxxis Tire’s
Beau Baron finishing in a close second place in
both classes.
Hot weather and dry conditions were on tap for
round six that was held at Glen Helen Raceway,
but the dust and heat didn’t seem to slow
down the Pro Production class at all as they charged
off the starting line.
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson grabbed the moto
one holeshot and rode a solid race from start
to finish, holding off Beau Baron for several
laps before pulling away and putting a little
distance between himself and Baron.
|
Dustin Nelson was right up front taking
the holeshot in moto one & going on
to take the win. Moto two was slightly different
off the start but would again see Nelson
taking the win & the overall |
Nelson recorded the fastest lap time of the day in the second lap of moto one
with a time of 02:09.459, which helped propel him
to the moto one win. In moto two, Nelson was in
second off the start behind Beau Baron.
Nelson began to pressure Baron immediately and
would soon get his way in lap five, when he pressured
Baron into making a mistake and was able to take
over the lead. From there, it was smooth sailing
for Nelson as he pulled away and took the moto
two win, and the overall. “Moto one went
really well. I got the holeshot and led from start
to finish, but in moto two, Beau got out ahead
of me and I had to work to get by him,”
stated Nelson, who still holds a comfortable points
lead.
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron was looking
fast and consistent in the Pro Production class
as he took an easy second off the start behind
Dustin Nelson in the first moto. Baron kept pace
with Nelson for the entire moto, but he was not
able to get close enough to make a move for the
lead and would take a second place finish in moto
one, making him more determined than ever in moto
two.

Maxxis'
Beau Baron would work his way past #5 Josh
Row on his way to a 2nd place overall in
the Pro class |
#549
Baron would get a better start in the 2nd
moto slotting into 1st place but would later
fall back to 2nd going 2-2 on the day |
As the gate dropped for moto two, Baron grabbed
the holeshot, but he was not alone as Dustin Nelson
was in close pursuit. Baron held his lead for
five laps before a slight bobble would send him
back to second. Baron would end his day with a
pair of second place finishes, giving him the
second spot on the Pro Production podium. “Dustin
is really fast off the start, so I was pretty
excited about getting the holeshot, but I’m
hoping I’ll be able to do that again at
the next round,” said Baron.
Yamaha/Goldenwest Cycle’s Justin Noss also
looked good as he powered his way up from fifth
to a third place finish in moto one. Noss got
off to a little bit better start in moto two,
taking fourth off the line, and he would again
reach the number three spot before taking the
checkered flag. Noss’ consistency this year
has him currently ranked third in points in the
Pro Production class.

Justin
Noss went 3-3 on the day for round 6 which
had him in 3rd place overall, which conveniently
also had in 3rd in the series points chase
as well |
Jason
Fife would have a couple hard battles to
add to his resume after round 6 going 6-4
for 4th place overall after battling with
Dunk during both motos |
Jason Fife put in a strong effort to claim sixth
in the first moto and a solid fourth in moto two
after battling with Jason Dunkelberger for several
laps, giving him fourth overall for the day. Jason
Dunkelberger, who is currently in fourth in the
points chase, would go 5-5 to round out the top
five. John Shafe’s 4-6 gave him the number
six spot overall, while Reed Petchnick landed
in seventh and James Rossi would finish in eighth.

Jason Dunkelberger currently sits 4th place
in points after staying consistent at round
6 by going 5-5 on the day |
Josh
Shafe would put his Honda to work for him
& allow it propel him to a 4-6 set of
moto finishes to give him 6th overall |
