Dustin Nelson's Winning
Streak Continues at Rynoland Quadcross
::Continued::

#97 Justin Noss & #549 Beau Baron battled
back & forth in Moto 2 with Baron claiming
the 2nd spot behind #94 Dustin Nelson |
In moto two, Baron was in third off the line and
would soon find himself in a heated battle with
Justin Noss. The pair would go back and forth for
several laps, much to the delight of spectators,
before Baron would be able to make the pass and
take over second place, where he would stay all
the way to the checkered flag. “Justin was
tough to get around and I was getting a little frustrated,
so I watched what lines he was taking and I chose
a few different ones and was able to make the pass,”
said Baron, who is in a solid second in the pro
points chase.
Justin Noss was looking fast and smooth as he
charged off the line in second place in moto one.
Noss would fall back to third, but held off Dunkelberger
to take a solid third place finish. In the second
moto, it looked as if Dustin Nelson would grab
the holeshot, but Noss seemed to come flying out
of nowhere to steel it away and take the lead.
Noss would fall back to second in lap one, but
he would hold off Beau Baron for most of the moto,
before settling into third. Noss’ 3-3 finishes
allowed him to round out the pro podium and maintain
a solid third in the points race.
Jason Dunkelberger put together two consistent
motos, going 4-4 to take fourth overall, while
John Shafe’s 5-5 allowing him to round out
the top five of the Pro Production class.
In the Open Pro class, Yamaha/GoldenWest Cycles’
Jason Dunkelberger would claim top honors. Moto
one was a competitive one for dunk as he and Kody
Evans would do battle. Despite his best efforts,
Dunkelberger was forced to settle for a second place
finish in the first moto, but in moto two, the number
19 Yamaha shot off the line and took an early lead.
Dunkelberger would stay out front and take a comfortable
moto two win. This is Dunk’s second Open Pro
win of the season, which puts him in the Open Pro
points lead. “I’ve been having a good
season so far and I’m hoping that continues
so I can deliver a championship,” said Dunk.
Kody Evans would grab the moto one holeshot and
hold his lead from start to finish despite incredible
pressure from Dunkelberger. In moto two, the pair
would battle again, but this time Evans would have
to settle for second. His 1-2 finishes would put
him in second place overall for the day and have
him in a respectable second in the Open Pro points
chase.
Keith Tebeau would go 4-3 in the Open Pro class
to claim a solid third place overall, while Dennis
Capogni's 5-4 would put him in fourth and John
Shafe would hang on to round out the Open Pro
top five overall.

#45 Garrin Fuller Takes the Pro-Am Class
Win going 1-1 |
Garrin Fuller was on fire in the Pro-am class as
he would take strong 1-1 finishes to claim the overall,
while Edgar Moreno’s 2-3 would put him in
second. Justin Jones, son of former three time AMA
250cc National Motocross Champion, Gary Jones, (who
is remembered for winning the first three 250cc
Motocross National Championships on three different
brands, a feat yet to be duplicated), has had great
results for his first year of racing on four wheels.
Jones would go 4-2 for a solid third place finish
overall and is currently the Pro-am class points
leader.
The next round of the Yamaha ITP Quadcross series
will be a night race, held at Speedworld in Surprise,
AZ on June 19th, where Dustin Nelson will be going
for another win as he defends his Pro Championship.
