Yamaha's takes home his 2nd straight
Pro Produciton ATV championship & the
first Pro ATV Championship for the all new
Yamaha YFZ450R ATV |
San Bernardino, CA – Yamaha’s
Dustin Nelson not only won the battle, but also
won the war, edging out Jeremie Warnia, and taking
his second consecutive Pro Production ATV Championship
at the 2009 Yamaha ITP Quadcross series, while Can-Am
Motoworks’ Jeremie Warnia would take the Open
Pro ATV Championship.
Glen Helen played host to the final round of
the 2009 season. Dry and dusty conditions awaited
racers and as is typical, the sandy track became
increasingly rough over the course of the day.
In the first Pro Production moto, AMA ATV Motocross
Pro-am racer Chase Snapp decided to join the pro
ranks and was looking quite impressive as he grabbed
the moto one holeshot, but unfortunately for Snapp,
his lead would not hold. Yamaha’s Dustin
Nelson was on a mission as he was three points
down from leader Jeremie Warnia and had no intensions
of letting the French rider take away his championship
status.

Suzuki
LTR450 mounted, Chase Snapp, made an impressive
Pro debut at Glen Helen by grabbing the
Moto One Holeshot, but by the end of lap
one, Yamaha's Dustin Nelson had taken over
the lead and began to pull away from Snapp
|
In the second lap, Nelson made his move on Snapp
and took over the lead. Once out front, Nelson
began to pull away and crossed the finish line
with a three second lead over the competition
leaving Chase Snapp to finish in second.
|
Chase Snapp was feeling the heat with Chad
Wienen & Jeremie Warnia both apply the
pressure, but Snapp was able to hold onto
the 2nd spot with both Wienen & Warnia
dealing with issues finishing 3rd &
4th in Moto One |
Chad Wienen was also on hand for the final round
and was in a close third coming off the line.
In the second lap, Wienen would close in on Chase
Snapp and the two would battle hard for several
laps before Wienen would take over second. Unfortunately
for Wienen, his radiator hose would blow off with
only a couple of laps to go and he would fall
back to third place, where he would stay to the
finish line.
Jeremie Warnia, who had a three point lead on
Dustin Nelson going into the final round, got
a less than desirable start in the first Pro Production
moto and had to work his way through traffic.
Warnia pushed hard and was able to work into the
number four spot before crossing the finish line,
but he knew the pressure would be on for moto
two in order for him to win the championship.
