Anza, CA - Yamaha’s Dustin
Nelson mounted a comeback at round eight of the
Yamaha ITP Quadcross series to take the Pro Production
win in an effort to reclaim the points lead and
defend his title from Can-Am Motoworks’ Jeremie
Warnia.
Cahuilla Creek Motocross Park was the hosting
facility for the event. Round eight of the ITP
Quadcross series was the first race ever to be
held at this new facility and things went well
for it being a first time. “Everything went
well and I think it was pretty successful for
them especially for it being a first time,”
stated Chad Wienen, who will also be racing at
the final Quadcross round at Glen Helen in November.

The
Yamaha / ITP Quadcross Series headed to
an all-new track for Round 8, Cahiulla Creek
Motocross Track, which is located in the
hills of Anza, California |

#123 Nick DeNoble grabbed the Moto 1 Holeshot
& he rounded out the Top 10 in the ATV
Pro Production Class |
Every round of the 2009 Yamaha ITP Quadcross series
has been a battle between blue and yellow so far
this season, with Dustin Nelson and Jeremie Warnia
going toe to toe, and this round was no exception.
Tensions were high as racers took to the line for
the first Pro Production moto, with Yamaha’s
Dustin Nelson in a six point deficit from leader
Jeremie Warnia. Nelson knew the competition would
be tough as there were several National pros who
made the trek to the California desert to get in
some seat time, but that didn’t stop him from
taking the moto one win.

#44 Chad Wienen earns a spot on the Podium
in his Quadcross debut with the Motoworks
/ Can-Am DS450 |
“I was second off the line behind Nick
DeNoble, but I got around him after a few turns
and just rode hard and tried to not make any mistakes,”
said Nelson who held his lead all the way to the
checkered flag despite pressure from Can-Am Motoworks’
Chad Wienen.
Wienen was third off the line and soon took over
second as he made his way through the first lap.
Wienen was right on Nelson, but the somewhat narrow
track offered limited opportunities for passing
forcing Wienen to settle for second.

Yamaha's
#84 Thomas Brown just missed a Podium finish
with a 4th Overall Finish |
Yamaha’s Thomas Brown, who was in CA doing
some testing for the boys in blue, was looking
smooth as he charged off the line. Brown steadily
worked his way up until reaching the number three
spot, where he would finish for the first moto.
Jeremie Warnia got off to a slower than usual
start in moto one and had his work cut out for
him as he tried to get to the front. Warnia who
is the current Pro Production points leader held
strong and finished in a solid fourth.

#13 John Natalie suffered a flat tire in
Moto 2, which ended his run at a Podium
finish |
Can-Am Motoworks’ John Natalie was also
on hand for this round and was holding steady
in the number five spot shadowing Warnia all the
way to the finish line, while Yamaha’s Justin
Noss put on a good show and was on Natalie’s
heels in sixth as they crossed the finish line.
Nick DeNoble, who had grabbed the moto one holeshot,
fell back to the number seven spot with Jason
Dunkleberger following in eighth and Josh Frederick
in ninth, while Honda mounted Landon Hurst was
back from injury to place tenth for the first
moto.
