Doug Eichner - Polaris Outlaw 525S ATV
#2 Doug Eichner goes 1-1 again in the Open Pro ATV Class on the Polaris Outlaw 525S
In the Open Pro class it was Doug Eichner and Darrell Patton who came out on top in their class. For the first moto, Patton got last on the gate pick, just as he had at the season opener and ended up getting a bad start. Eichner came out of the hole in 2nd “As usual, I didn’t get the holeshot, but I did work up to first by the third corner,” said Eichner.

Eichner ran the rest of the first moto unchallenged and had a comfortable lead as he crossed the finish line. Chris Riley, who has come on strong this year, took 2nd with TJ Dietrich right behind him in 3rd. Darrell Patton had managed to work his way up to 4th and Francisco Ruano took 5th.

As they came off the line in moto2, the #1 KTM of Darrell Patton was neck and neck with the #2 Polaris of Doug Eichner. Patton applied pressure to Eichner hoping he would slip up and allow Patton to get the holeshot, but the veteran racer did not budge and edged out Patton to take the holeshot. “It was really great to know that I could keep up with Doug like that off the line,” said Patton, who has had DASA doing some engine work on his KTM 525.

While Eichner checked out, Patton held a comfortable second for most of the moto, until Tecate, Mexico’s Roberto Villalobos slipped by towards the end to take second. Eichner, of course, took the overall win. Darrell Patton claimed the 2nd spot on the podium and TJ Dietrich took 3rd. “I’m really happy about getting on the podium with a new bike,” said Patton, who is hoping to continue that trend all season long. Chris Riley claimed the #4 spot overall and Clayton Endes took #5 on his Kawasaki.

The next round of the ITP Quadcross will be heading back to California to Racetown 395 in Adelanto on May 4th. The track is fast and features some decent jumps but like most So Cal tracks, it is dry and prone to lots of dust, especially in the warmer months. You can check out www.racetown395.com for more directions and more information about the facility.
