#2 Doug Eichner goes 1-1 for the Open Pro
ATV Class win on the Polaris Outlaw 525S |
Meanwhile, in the Open Pro class, Doug Eichner had
a flawless run on his Yoshimura powered Polaris
Outlaw 525S. Eichner took first in both motos. “I
had a good weekend. My bike is really dialed in.
The Yoshi motor pulled hard off the line and kept
going,” said Eichner. The veteran racer who
has mainly focused on the WORCS race series for
the past few years stated that he will be doing
a lot more of the Quadcross series this year. “I
really enjoy MX and I plan to be at all of the Quadcross
rounds that I can,” he said.
Robert Villalobos from Tecate, Mexico made the
jump to pro this year and took second place behind
Eichner, while TJ Dietrich claimed the last place
on the podium. 2007 Open Pro champ, Darrell Patton,
who placed 6th, traded in his tricked out Raptor
700 this year and made his debut on his new KTM
525. I got 17th out of 21 on the gate pick, so
I didn’t really get the line I wanted. I
came off the gate mid pack and managed to work
my way up to 6th,” said Patton who has had
very little seat time and testing on his new ride.
“The only things I’ve done to it is
change out the a-arms and shocks, change the tires
and add nerfs,” he continued. Patton predicts
that as his comfort level with the new bike increases,
so will his results.

Angela Butler out runs Michelle Natalie
to claim the Quadcross Women's Class Win |
Angela Butler made her first ITP Quadcross appearance
on her new Polaris Outlaw as well and rode away
with 1st in the Women’s Intermediate class
despite stiff competition from Michelle Natalie
and up-and-coming Washington State native Tammy
Balser. Angela took an almost expected first in
both of her motos. Michelle was close behind in
2nd for moto 1, but encountered problems and was
forced to DNF in the second moto, which allowed
Tammy a 3-2 finish that earned her 2nd overall.
Rounding out the podium in 3rd was another Pacific
NW rider, Mary Rempelos from Estacada, OR, who
raced Women’s Beginner last year, and made
the switch to the Intermediate class just this
year.
Another notable accomplishment was Factory Yamaha’s
pro-am rider Thomas Brown making his ITP Quadcross
debut. Thomas, who was accompanying Pat Brown
(no relation) and the rest of the Yamaha crew,
was not eligible to race in the Glen Helen Nationals
Pro opener, so he decided to race in the Quadcross
265-240 Expert Division. The Sanger, TX native
proved he has what it takes to be on a factory
team by walking away with an amazing 1-1 win.
In second place was the #21 bike of Jeff Holum
and taking the 3rd on the podium was David Ragan
piloting his #12 Suzuki.
The next round of the 2008 ITP Quadcross will
be held on April 13th in Arizona at the Arizona
Cycle Park that has made a few changes to it’s
main track for 2008 including a “Horsepower
Hill” and “Diamondback Drop”
in order to make the track a little more challenging
and interesting for the up coming season. Be sure
to check out www.itpquadcross.com
for more info on round 2 of the ITP Quadcross
as well as the Arizona Cycle Park.
