Springville, IN (5/23/2008)
- Clear skies and perfect weather was the scene
for Round Three of the IXCR Series hosted by
the Demaree Family in Cross Plains, In. With
rain showers during the week and strong winds
the day before race day, left us with great
track conditions with a nice mix of dust and
mud. Cross Plains is located in southern Indiana
in Ripley County. It is known for it Tobacco
fields and Deer Hunting. But as of May 18th,
2008 it is now known for a great place to hold
a Cross Country race. The track was 7 miles
long with several long open field sections where
you could max out your machine! With speeds
hitting the 70MPH mark fast laps were sure to
be had by everyone.

However the IXCR crew would not let the racers
run at top speed the entire race. Several obstacles
were thrown at the riders including a chicken
house that the bikers rode right thru the middle
of, and a few jumps where you could take in a
deep breath of the clean country air! Mud was
found in several areas of the track as the course
ran across one creek, thru another creek, and
right down the middle of a small stream! That
water was then carried right up on the hill climbs
and made for a great place to pass and see some
action. With close to 300 riders, Demaree Farms
turned out to be a great success.

Our fearless four wheeled racers took to the
course setting a blistering pace and Factory
Yamaha backed Donald Ockerman took the overall
with Craig Bowman in tow. Jonathan Fugate had
an impressive ride wining the A Class and Moto-Xperts
rider Wesley Fruits was second. Local rider
Fred Marley put his S.I.C.C. Racing Honda in
the front of the B 16-25 class and Mike Goss
did the same in the 26+B Class. Justin Kirchhoff
was victorious in the 16-21 C Class and Gary
Stallard won the 22-29 C Class. Mike Muskopf
has really turned up the dial since switching
over to the Honda and he built up even more
momentum with another victory in the 30+ C Class.
Ryan Edmondson won our First Year Racer class
and Garret Mercer finished out front in the
Sport class. “B-Rad” Brad Morrison
has a flashy new Raptor 250 and he proved it
is “Show’n Go” for this toy
as he won the Sport-Lite class. Polaris should
be proud of Steve Zapfe as he won the very competitive
30+ Vet class and David Robinson won the 40+
Senior Class. Josh Brewer took his WKC Powersports
Utility to front of the pack and won his class
along with Chris Sigman in the Utility Unlimited
Class.
The entire staff of IXCR would like to thank
the Demaree family for opening up their property
to us along with the Cross Plains Community.
Next round will be held in Bedford, IN on all
virgin trails again but look for it to tighten
up next round. As the trees will get closer
and the point battles will do the same!
Until next time, Stay between the trees!
