“I lost the championship by three points last
year, so it’s nice to have had nailed this down
early,” said Plavi. “This is really big for us.
We had a great season and won a lot of races.
Everyone had to step it up this year and it paid
off. We figured since we wrapped up the championship,
we’d step up to XC1 this round. We started on
the fourth row and had to work our way up. We
put on a good battle with Hunter Miller the whole
race. Unfortunately on the final lap we got into
some ruts, hit a stump that picked us up right
into a tree. We had to limp it to the finish line.”
Kyle Chaney, who won the last two GNCC XC1 UTV
Championships, had to fight an ill-handling car
all race. Though he finished 10th, he clinched
second in points.

“I think I hit every tree on the course today
at least twice,” laughed Chaney. “I still went
out there and gave it my all. I just hit a bunch
of stuff. I knew I had to finish. I just went
around the track hoping my car would hold together.
On the first lap, the car started handling really
bad. Something happened early on. The car just
wasn’t handling well today and there are handful
of things that are broken. We’ll get it fixed
and we’ll be back for next year. I had a good
year and Cody had a better year. We’ll be back
battling next year and I’m excited.”
