Race Report
::Continued::
Miller had his own difficulties. After running
in the top five all race, he was held up after
he hit a tree. Miller backed up his fourth-place
finish by winning the Side by Side Pro race later
in the day.
“I knew as long as I could stay in front with
those guys it would be a good race,” said Miller.
“I ended up getting lodged in between two trees.
Another guy helped me out. Once I got out of there,
I tried to catch up, but I just ran out of time.
I’m pretty ecstatic. My Can-Am Outlander was ripping
out there.”
Zakowski’s fifth-place finish came as the result
of a hard off-season training program. With his
conditioning up, he was happy to finish the race
in the top five.
“I finished strong and I’m not tired,” said Zakowski.
“I just couldn’t make up the time difference.
I’m excited for this season. I’m in better shape
than I’ve ever been. I’ve been working harder
than I ever. I feel good. I got back my confidence.”
The man to watch in the race was John Glauda,
Jr. Competing in the Schoolboy Sr. class, Glauda
actually finished third overall and won his class
as a result. Ronnie Rusch and Chase Fittro completed
the Schoolboy Sr. Podium.
“I got off to a good start and I just rode my
own race from there,” said Glauda. “I had the
overall lead for awhile, but I ran into some lappers
and ended up third. It’s great to start off the
season this way.”
In the Women’s Class, Kara Frederick won her
first ever GNCC race. She is running her second
season in GNCC on a brand new Honda. Kamren Bobb
was second, ahead of Tori Fryer.
“My hands are pretty sore,” said Frederick. “The
track was rough, but it was fun. This is a big
confidence booster going into the season.”
Bryan Hulsey won the Super Senior 45+ race, after
leading every lap of the event. Aaron Delancy
and Wayne Brown rounded out the podium.
“It was a good run,” said Hulsey. “I got out
second, took the lead on the first lap and held
it from there. It seems like every year I meet
people here and I don’t want quit seeing them.
It’s just a lot of fun.”
The next GNCC Race is scheduled for March 12-13
at the Hill County Farm in Sparta, GA.
