Washington, GA - The Maxxis General,
round two of the 2015 GNCC series, was as tough
as it gets, but Can-Am’s Treavis Poynter proved
he was tougher after taking the XC1 Pro SxS win
followed by Racer Tech’s John Yokley finished in
second followed by Steven Matko , while Can-Am/Racer
Tech’s Joe Krcelich won the XC2 class.
With heavy rain on Friday, the Maxxis General
GNCC track proved to be extremely challenging
with its very slippery red clay and deep ruts.
With all the mud flying, clogged radiators and
blown belts were sidelining many racers, and by
the final lap, only 11 racers, out of a field
of over 75, were able to complete all four laps
of the GNCC SxS race.

Even with the tough conditions, Treavis Poynter
was on a mission in the SxS XC1 class. Poynter
started out on the second row and quickly caught
up to the first row. “We started out on the second
row, and I caught up to the first row and just
started picking people off,” said Poynter.

Poynter’s efforts got him into the lead before
the end of the first lap, giving him the advantage
of not eating everyone else’s mud. Poynter was
able to keep his lead and took the first XC1 Pro
SxS win of the season by over three minutes ahead
of second place. “My Can-Am Maverick was awesome
out there. Everyone worked really hard to get
us ready for this race, and I knew all I had to
do was finish the race. I am really stoked to
take the win, and now I can’t wait until the next
round. It feels great to be the points leader
so far because taking this first win definitely
puts me in a better position for a championship
at the end of the season,” said Poynter.

Polaris/Racer Tech’s John Yokley made the switch
this season Ffom the Polaris RZR XP 1000 to the
Polaris RZR 900S, but the displacement difference
didn’t seem to affect his performance one bit.
Yokley was in the number seven spot heading into
the second lap and quickly moved into fifth. “On
the last lap I knew I was in fifth, and I had
to pick good lines because it was so tough. I
saw a couple of guys broke down off on the side
of the track and that put me up to second, which
I was really happy about,” said Yokley.

Yokley’s choice of lines kept his second place
status all the way to the finish line, giving
him second in his class and second overall. “It
was really rough out there but, our Racer Tech
high clearance a-arms really made the difference
for us. With all the carnage out there, we are
pretty happy to finish in second,” said Yokley.
Steven Matko had a good start and was in fourth
after the first lap. Matko fell back to sixth
during the second lap but was able to mount a
charge and moved into third in the final lap.
Matko held his position and finished third in
his class and third overall on the SxS podium.
